Weather

March 14th, 2010 @ 2:30 pm by Mrs. Pug

So, weather.com has finally started to post the forecast for our wedding day (I say “finally” as if I wasn’t sure when it would be posted, but I guess I knew it was pretty much going to be 10 days out).

Half Moon Bay is not your stereotypical California weather—it’s coastal, can be a bit blustery, and is no stranger to rain and clouds (go me for picking a great location!). However, last year when I visited in March, it was mid 60s and gorgeous. Naturally I was crossing my fingers for the same this year.

(not our forecast, I’d die and go to heaven if it were going to be above 70)

I checked late last night. High 60 degrees, sunny, with 0% chance of rain. Yippee!

I checked this morning. High 59 degrees, partly cloudy, with 0% chance of rain. Still yippee!

I checked right now.

High 59 degrees, partly cloudy, with 10% chance of rain. WTF??!! I want my f&*!ng zero percent back you f&$*%ng motherf*(#ckers!

’Scuse me. Kind of melodramatic for 10%, wouldn’t you say?

Anybody else experience weather anxiety for their big day?

Ohmy God, so much. Atlanta is really random in September. So happy you have your 60 and a *teeny* chance of rain confirmed by the weather gods though! :)

yes. It snowed 3 days before my mid-October wedding. How does that sound for a fall themed wedding?

Please don’t check it more than four or five days out for your own sanity! And even then, I wouldn’t panic (if at all) until at least two days out. The forecast for our wedding day changed like every six hours our whole wedding week and it turned out just fine. But even if it doesn’t, there’s no point stressing out about it until it’s time to make some last-minute rain decisions! Your wedding is gonna rock either way :)

I literally laughed out loud just now, because I can totally see myself cursing at the weather forecast 10 days out. Hope it ends up being a bee-utiful day :)

Fingers crossed no rain. I’m not expecting rain on our wedding day either, but 10% would freak me out.

Mine forecast is the same way! It actually started out with scattered showers, then sunny, HOORAY!! Then partly cloudy, now mostly cloudy! grrr! At least we decided to move it all inside last weekend so I don’t have to sweat it too much.

Oh, I know I’m going to be like this. Our wedding is outdoors in September and I’m panicking already!

Oh, I remember the forecast stalking! In our case it was, “Please don’t be in the 90’s!”. It was in the 90’s, but it was still beautiful!

I can’t believe your wedding is almost here. Crazy!

Haha, yes definitely! I almost cried when I realized we had to get married in June (long story, my older sister took forEVER to pick a date for her wedding and it backfired only on me). Just to remind everyone, June of 2009 rained every single day of the month except for like 2. It didn’t just rain either. It was cold, dark and very windy. All. Month. So we are actually making all of our plans assuming the wedding will take place during a hurricane, even my hairstyle will be affected by it.

Oh gosh, I can totally relate! I’m not getting married for a year and already I have checked the weather obsessively THIS YEAR in the hopes it will tell me something about my wedding NEXT YEAR (it rained for my wedding weekend this year - oh no!). I have also checked historical rain records for the day and month (over 50 years, average is good; last year, the record recorded rainfall in any one month EVER - yikes, BAD choice of month). I KNOW I am going to be the crazy weather checking lady from 10 days before. Refreshing every hour. Or 30 seconds if it tells me something I don’t like, until it changes its mind. I know whether I look or not it isn’t going to change a damn thing. And it won’t really matter that much anyway. But I’ll still do it.
Good luck Pug, don’t go too crazy as your wedding will be beautiful anyway!

Love it. I’m getting married in July, in Ireland, and there is simply no way anyone tries to have an outdoor wedding here! It’ll prob bucket down rain, and July is our best month! Sure you’ll enjoy your day regardless. Don’t fret on it.

I’m freaked out about our weather situation, too! Where we are getting married in Florida, in late November, it could still be summer hot, it could be the middle of a hurricane, it could be just pouring down rain, it could be freezing cold, or it could be the most perfect 74 degree weather you have ever felt in your life. I am on pins and needles waiting to find out.
I’m keeping fingers crossed for you and sending good thoughts your way. Good luck!

Maybe I’m a little weird… but I’m kind of hoping that it rains… I’m getting married in the middle of Australia’s winter! And I couldn’t be more happy! If it’s cold and wet, then I’ll have some beautiful pictures and memories I can’t forget!

The more things that go wrong, the more likely I’ll remember every detail! :)

haha, i wouldn’t worry about 10% chance. it’s a pretty low likelihood of happening.
