About Mrs. Penguin

Hey all! We’re so excited to preview this upcoming new feature to the hive! Over on the Ideas board, many hive members have expressed interest in having user reviews integrated into the site for quite some time.

The Weddingbee team has been hard at work making this a reality, and soon the Weddingbee Vendor Directory will go live! You’ll be able to read and write up vendor reviews, view and save listings of over 100,000 wedding vendors, view their work, and if you’ve worked with them, rate their services, and add your own feedback on vendors you’ve used for your wedding, all right here on Weddingbee.

A Sneak Peek at the Weddingbee Vendor Directory! : wedding announcements Chosen chosen

With the new vendor directory, hive members will be able to share their experiences with the Weddingbee community, as well as access and view all vendor reviews that have been written on WeddingWire. So, from the get-go, the vendor directory will be filled with vendors and reviews! We’re also integrating some Weddingbee-specific features, like being able to sort reviews by those specifically written on Weddingbee. Any reviews you write will also show up in your unified profile, making your reviews easy to access!

We hope that vendor reviews are something that you’ll really love having on the site, and will improve your wedding planning experience! If all goes well, we expect to launch it live on the site next week. Stay tuned! :)

I beg of you, please add a way to add pricing information (non-specific) in reviews and a way to filter by price.

Something like:

$=really inexpensive for the geographic area
$$=just about average for the geographic area
$$$=higher priced for the geographic area
$$$$=b-b-b-budget breaker

Rationale: There is nothing more frustrating than finding a vendor, talking to them, then finding out you couldn’t afford them even if you got rid of your entire catering and decor budget. ;)

This looks great! And I like Ejoyb’s suggestion - I ran into that multiple times. :)

@ejoyb: Great suggestion! This is definitely a suggestion we’d love to talk about integrating with WeddingWire! Thanks for passing it along :)

@Mrs. Penguin:
Hm When you talk about integrating with WW what do you mean? Like reviews posted here will be linked into wedding wire immediately?
I have heard horror stories about negative reviews on WeddingWire being removed. I sure hope it won’t be like that on here because that would defeat the purpose.

That’s cool. Is there a link between WeddingBee and Wedding Wire??

@Gerbera: Hi Gerbera! We’ve seen a bit of that kind of feedback from the hive and elsewhere, and have voiced our concerns about review dispute resolution to WeddingWire. Our ultimate goal is to make sure that all reviews written on Weddingbee are accurate and truthful, and this includes verifying that reviewers have really worked with the vendor they’re reviewing. Fake reviews hurt brides and the integrity of the Vendor Directory, and we’ll work to ensure that the reviews written on Weddingbee are accurate and helpful. Reviews that you write will eventually be visible here at Weddingbee, and also at Project Wedding, Martha Stewart Weddings, and at WeddingWire! If you’ve had a negative or positive experience with a vendor, we encourage you to share with the hive an honest and detailed account of your interaction with them!

@mrspaetz: Yes! The directory will be powered by WeddingWire, so off the bat the directory will be stocked with over 100,000 reviewed vendors.

@Mrs. Penguin:
I absolutely agree. I think it’s great that you guys will check to make sure that we actually used a vendor that we posted a review about. Often when I see a review on WW that was posted by a user that only has ONE review I’m VERY leery. Thanks for the clarification!

Actually, Penguin, I think the real problem is the other way around that WeddingWire is fairly happy to remove negative reviews from real brides (and real brides, let’s face it, USUALLY will only do one batch of reviews EVER since they only have one wedding ever!)

Given this site’s orientation, I would be more concerned to protect brides from sanitized sets of vendor reviews than to protect vendors from that one random false accuser (seriously how often does that happen? and we all know how to filter out that one wacko from using Yelp, etc)

If the directory is already going to be “stocked” with those reviews on wedding wire, then brides here are already going to get that sanitized information, but with the logo of WeddingBee that they trust more. I think this is a major problem.

I’m curious if there will be a way for us to synch our existing Wedding Wire reviews with our Weddingbee “username”. That could be useful to note existing reviews from those of us who have already completed them on wedding wire and keep duplicate reviews from happening.

I’m nervous about this too. I’ve had a really bad experience with my photographer (lawyers involved, and the vendor is still not relenting). I counted on WB to be the one place that I could give an honest review after the situation was handled. This is frustrating to brides who know that sites like WeddingWire and ProjectWedding do more to protect the vendors than the brides. In our situation with our negative vendor this has been our main problem- there’s nothing in place to protect the brides.
