Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!

Cake Topper Inspiration!

March 16th, 2010 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Jellyfish

Ever since we got engaged, one of my favorite wedding items to browse the internets for is wedding cake toppers! I’ve found a few that I really like, and I want to see what you all think!

First up, the “bride feeding the groom” cake topper. We saw this one in a magazine before we were engaged and Mr. Jelly liked it so much he made me rip it out of the magazine and keep it for future reference. We like how it sits on the side of the cake, instead of the top.

Here’s an Air Force cake topper. It looks kind of vintage-y!

Then there’s the (free!) option of using our kissing pug salt and pepper shakers, which Mr. Jelly got me for Christmas last year, as our cake topper:

Ever since I discovered Etsy though, I have been drawn to some of the custom cake toppers out there. There’s these adorable clay people from seller MudCards, custom-made to look like the bride and groom:

And how about this personalized cake topper from seller Lollipopworkshop? It’s a bit pricey but it would make a great keepsake:

Sadly, it looks as though Lollipopworkshop’s shop is temporarily closed, but hopefully it’ll be up and running sometime soon.

Here’s another set from Etsy, by seller NakedPeggies. These go for $60, and I’m pretty sure I can recreate them myself for under $10:

They are all so cute! I love the 5th one. They are all very different looks though – which one do you think would go best with your cake?

It definitely depends on the style of your wedding and cake, they are all pretty cute! My favorite is the bride feeding the groom. I’ve never seen that (or the sitting on the cake) and I’m a wedding photographer, so I’ve seen a ton of cake toppers!

I like the bride feeding the groom–it’s really unique! I’m not as fond of the ones where the bride and groom look cartoon-like.

I really love the lollipop workshop cake toppers (and even blogged about getting one!) but like you said, unfortunately the shop is closed. I think they’re all pretty cute, though!

Aw, those are adorable! And I’m with Miss Hamster on this one– the cute arch one is my favorite- though, if you’re at all handy and have a few hours of free time, I would suggest trying to create that one, too!

Lollipop Workshop’s little couples are my favorite! Unfortunately, however, they are also way out of my price range.

I love the clay one, but that could just be because MudCards did my cake topper! :)

I love the pugs! I think I am now going to look for cats kissing for our cake topper! Thanks for the inspiration. Yes, the pugs are just too cute (though maybe I’m biased since I love pugs?) lol

I like the pugs. They’re cute and they already have a story behind them.

Well we went with MudCards, so obviously I voted for her! But instead of having us designed in polymer clay we our having a bride and groom version of our school mascot.

We got our cake topper custom made by mudcards (3rd from the bottom), and we LOVE it! We had a weird idea and she totally ran with it, it turned out great!
