Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Easiest DIY Project Ever

March 16th, 2010 @ 1:55 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

I’m wrapping up my DIY projects… I mean, there were so many of them. Who am I kidding: you know I’m not a DIYer. But this last one was by far the easiest. I needed to make 2 hanging lanterns for our ceremony decor. I went to Crate and Barrel first to find appropriate containers. But, once I saw that it would cost about $9 each, I decided that Goodwill would also have pretty containers. So, with my new idea of finding glassware, I headed to Goodwill and found 2 perfect containers:

(Pretend you don’t see the wire on the sides, I forgot to take ‘before’ pictures. Also pretend you don’t notice the crooked paint line, m’kay, thanks.)

Grab crafting material from previous DIY project that you have not finished yet:

Then, take off the tops of the containers with needle nose pliers:

Then, hand the 2 jars to Mr. Fro Yo and explain to him what you hope to accomplish while you enjoy a beer outside on a sunny, beautiful day:

After delicious beer is finished, come inside for another and check on the project. Find 2 finished jars sitting on the floor:

We even tested these out by filling them with water and hanging them from a hook outside to make sure that with the weight of the water they would stay put. They worked perfectly! I can’t wait to show you how we’ll use them on our wedding day.

Did your fiance take over any DIY projects?

Mine did :-) I was making flowers out of pine cones and I promised him that if he “helped” (read: did the whole project), he would have a good excuse to use his Dremel tool and I would even let him choose the next movie we watched together. He made lovely pincone flowers.

Haha! I love it. My FI doesn’t follow instructions well enough for me to accomplish this kind of DIY.

Love these. We’re doing some similar hanging on raffia that will contain a few dahlia blooms to hang from shepherd’s hooks on a pathway.

He hasn’t yet, but (like Mr. Fro Yo) he is crafty. I am hoping to use his expertise soon!

Nice!
I hate to bother you with a question so close to your big day but I am also a future marie gabrielle bride (september) and was wondering what hotels you used for your guests. I have really enjoyed following your planning and I think your day is going to be really spectacular!

Yep! My FI is making a huge picture display board for us! It is going to be covered in navy blue fabric and have yellow ribbon coming down so I can clip pictures to it! I’m so excited for it and he loves to build things-to him this is much better than being asked about flowers, fabric and centerpieces!
