Many moons ago (OK, more like a few months ago) I blogged about how I was going to make fabric napkins for all of the guests at our wedding. I even had grand plans to fashion them into a quilt post-wedding. Remember this inspiration picture?
Ahh, yes. Well, then I blogged about how we might change our linens and that the fabric napkin plan might clash with the linens we were going to rent, and that we might not do them after all. And… that was the last I said about this little project.
Well, friends… I am here to report that we ultimately decided to do the most basic of linen rentals — black tablecloths with black chair covers & simple pink sashes. (Note that “the most basic of linen rentals” still equates to paying a pretty penny, but I digress.) This decision meant that the fabric napkins were back in the game! Good thing, too, because I had already purchased quite a few yards of fabric for the napkin project. So yes, the fabric was purchased. And then it sat in a corner of my dining room, untouched, for quite a few weeks. OK, OK…for a few months. Finally, my mom asked me when I was planning to start sewing the napkins, and I sheepishly replied that I wasn’t really sure because my sewing machine skills are… shall we say… sub-par. (Note to self: take a damn lesson before you attempt to make the post-wedding napkin quilt.) So, my mom suggested I ship the fabric down to her, and she would sew each and every one of them for me. Umm… lifesaver.
I am happy to report that the napkins are almost completely finished! (I say “almost completely” because I still have 2 more fabric patterns to cut before we’re 100% done.) A big thank you goes out to my mom for finishing these for me — she rocked it out and got them done in about 1 week. Amazing.
What’s that you say? You want pictures? But of course.

Ah, yes…the night I spent starching & ironing all of the napkins. I completed this task while listening to Vienna on The Bachelor butcher the English language by saying things like ”Jake and I’s chemistry…” Anyway, this part took some time.

11 of the 13 fabrics, all made up into pretty little napkins. We cut them in sets of 10, so this is a total of 110 napkins!
My mom did such an awesome job on these — seriously, every single seam is completely straight.

I’m still trying to figure out how I want them folded, but if we decide to put them in the water glasses on the tables, I think that I like this fold best. So, that’s one more thing to cross off the to-do list! I’m really happy with how the napkins turned out, and can’t wait to see them at the reception!
Is there any aspect of your wedding decor that you couldn’t exactly complete on your own?
