My Wedding MO

March 16th, 2010 @ 2:36 pm by Mrs. Pug

Having read countless posts from fellow bees regarding their amazing weddings and looking at photos from other weddings on the internet, I kinda feel like I could be putting more effort into my wedding, like DIY-ing more stuff and doing my own flowers. But I can’t complain, because to a certain extent, it’s all my fault! And I own it! It’s all due to my modus operandi: Laziness (and DIY inability). Folks, I won’t lie—excited as I have been about planning this wedding, I am a lazy ass.

If I could do this for a living, I would:

I am so pretty.

There are several components from this wedding that I decided from the get-go not to include, or dropped along the way.

Changing My Last Name

(Okay this isn’t exactly a wedding detail but whatever, you consistency police.) I didn’t even really enter a debate in my mind over whether to change my name. I guess if I really thought about it I would say that I like my first and last name together, and I don’t feel the need to change my last name. But that would be a mask of the real reason, which is that it seems like an awful lot of effort to change my name on every official paper, account, credit card, and whatnot. Soooo, I’m not gonna do it. Too tired. Maybe later. Or not.

Bridal Party

As fun as it would be to have a bridal party, my sister and my college friend K (who will also be our officiant) have taken such a big role in the wedding, and that is more than plenty without actually calling them bridesmaids. When they ask me what they should wear, I yawn and say whatever they want. I don’t want to be responsible for someone’s dress, shoes, jewelry, or whatever. I’m watching TV and can’t be bothered.

Veil and Bouquet

Veils and bouquets are lovely. Of course they are. And if I wanted them, I would have to spend time, effort and money to get them. So I decided that I didn’t want them.

This is me after eating breakfast.

What kind of details have you forgone in order to save your energy and sanity?

LOL now I don’t feel so alone- you’re exactly my type of wedding planner… The kind that plans on getting her sleep in!

I wish I had your attitude during wedding planning! I was all about pouring over the details. Your way is so much less stressful. I love your pugs!!!

You’re hilarious. Seriously.

I am also very lazy but I get peer pressured easily. And by peer pressured, influenced by blogs and bees.

Confession: I read this post laying in bed, with my cat sleeping on my legs. So I understand!

This is hilarious. Also, you’re full of it. If you were seriously lazy, no way you’d be providing us gawking blog-devourers with witty, useful and insightful reading material every single day. Face it, you’re kind of a rockstar.

I was too lazy for favors. And DIY flowers. And handwritten envelopes (my hand was too lazy for that, actually).

This is like my favorite post ever. I am one of the laziest people on the planet, and there are so many things I’m skipping because I just don’t feel like putting in the effort.

P.S. That photo of you and the dogs could totally be me. If it was only one dog, and if that dog was a beagle. But he loves sleeping behind my knees just like yours.

You and I are twins.

This is why I decided to have my wedding/reception at a restaurant. I don’t have to pick linen colors, decor, chairs, etc.

Along the way, I thought I would DIY some of those Yay flags. Decided to nix it. Too much effort and money.

I was also thinking about doing Mexican wedding cookies for favors but will probably nix that as well as it gets closer to the big day. I am no cook and I am also too lazy.

Maybe I’ll just buy some from a Mexican bakery instead…

It would seem you’re the Asian me. I did have a veil and bouquet, but I paid for them, no DIY for me. I skipped a bridal party - the ceremony was basically standing room only as it was, and totally skipped changing my name too. Sure, I like my current last name, but I wouldn’t have minded having it hyphenated, that way it would always be right, people could call me whatever they want and I could still use my maiden name professionally (I’m also an attorney) BUT really? Just too lazy to care. Maybe kids will change my mind, but feh?

Seriously, so funny. And also, if you make it down to Philly, get in touch, I’ll buy you a drink and tell you how I avoided doing as much as possible for this wedding, and then stopped caring about the rest, and had a great time at my own wedding, which was key to me, having shelled out approximately a bazillion dollars to have it in the first place. I jest, only half a bazillion.
