30+ Years of Bliss

March 17th, 2010 @ 2:39 pm by Mrs. Sushi

Today, good ol’ Saint Patrick’s Day, is my parents’ 31st wedding anniversary. I don’t know the whole story, but the gist of it is that they paid minimal bucks and eloped in California. Remember, I said eloping ran in my family.

30+ Years of Bliss : wedding anniversary oahu Untitle01 My parents have been a very good influence on me and my views of marriage. I definitely look up to them and hope to base my own marriage off of their own. The secret to their marriage…

Date night! Since I could remember, my mom and dad have ALWAYS made time for each other. Every week they go out. Every week. Obviously when I was younger, it was more of family time, but now that my brother and I are grown and out of the house, they still go out one night every week. Sometimes it’s to dinner, or out for some drinks, or a movie or a show, but EVERY week they go out. While we can’t necessarily afford to go out every week, we can definitely make time for each other every week. They still cuddle on the couch together and hold hands when they walk down the street. I love it. It’s nice to know that 30+ years later, you can still act and love like teenagers.

30+ Years of Bliss : wedding anniversary oahu Untitle02 Here’s an extra pic, since they look kinda gloomy in their marriage photos. Cheer up mom and dad, you got married (and had me ;) )!

Much better! :)

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!!!

Who’s marriage do you hope to model yours after?

Happy anniversary to the Sushi ‘rents! The pictures are great and I love the 70s clothes. My parents celebrated their 35th anniversary the week before our wedding—very encouraging!

Love the last pic! My parent’s marriage had its extremely rocky points, but the unconditional and undying love my dad has for our family is just…. I hope to mirror our marriage after my dad’s devotion!

Your parents really are a cut couple! And congratulations on their 30+ years.

My parents marriage is my big example, they really loved each other ánd after 30 years they were still in love. My dad is passed away, seven years ago, a couple of months after their 30 year anniversary.

The parents of my guy will be married for 35 years this year. So I guess we both have great examples.

I hope we’re like my future in-laws. Mr Spin’s mom and I were headed to a meeting with the florist. We were running a little late and in a hurry. She said goodbye to FFIL as we were running out the door. He said, “Aren’t you forgetting something?” And she turned around and went back to kiss him goodbye. *sigh* ^_^ They’re so affectionate still. I want to be like that.

So cool. My parents will be married 39 years in August and My husband’s parents will be married 40 years in August. Our DJ couldn’t get over how many couple he still had on the floor at 35 years during the anniversary dance.

That is so cute. My parents have been married 37 years, and I too use their marriage as a model. I think the biggest blessing you can give your children is a happy parental marriage — that’s awesome.
