Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
About Mrs. Hamster

It’s getting down to crunch time, and there are still tons of to-dos that need to be done. One of these tasks is figuring out the rehearsal. So, I thought about that for a while, realized it was not that fun to think about, and added it to my ever-growing “Come back to this later” list. Instead, I turned to the fun part of the day - the rehearsal dinner! Come on now, thinking about processional orders when I could be pondering pizza toppings? What was I thinking?

Forget the Rehearsal, Where's the Dinner? : wedding food nyc rehearsal Pizzace1 pizzace

I think the winner is obvious here.

Yes, the Mister and I have decided to do pizza for the rehearsal dinner. Granted, it’s “fancier” pizza - not my business school 3 AM haunt (yum). But the wedding will be formal, so we thought a slightly more casual setting would be a fun way for the bridal party to meet each other. And with so many of our party coming from out of town, an introduction to good NYC pizza is a must! (Never mind that our favorite pizza place is *closed* for renovation, and we’re not sure about our new choice - I’ll save that for another post.)

With my trusty DIY program, Microsoft Word, I whipped up these two bad boys:

Forget the Rehearsal, Where's the Dinner? : wedding food nyc rehearsal Rdinvit01 RDinvit01

Forget the Rehearsal, Where's the Dinner? : wedding food nyc rehearsal Rdinvit02 RDinvit02

I know. Don’t get too excited.

I liked the first one - bright and bold, slightly irreverent, and look at those polka dots! Who doesn’t love dots? Well, apparently Mr. Hammy doesn’t - he much preferred the Word-Meets-Italiano invitation. Since I loved the dots but wasn’t “in love” with them, I agreed to go with the red and white invitation - I mean, I already vetoed the Mister’s panther idea; I guess I’ve got to give him something.

Which invitation do you like? Any suggestions or changes? What are you doing for your rehearsal dinner? Am I asking too many questions?

I like the first but the second screams italian food.

Are you doing a rehearsal because it’s needed (aka complex wedding) or because it’s tradition? We are having a short park wedding and so I wouldn’t have thought to plan one except that my FMIL really wants one and offered to do it all.

I love it! We might be doing the exact same thing, actually. We’re transplants to Chicago, and nearly everyone is coming in from out of town, so we want to see them all as many times as possible, instead of having a small intimate rehersal dinner. We’re seriously considering having the dinner at one of the fabulous deep dish restaurants in the city to keep it super casual before the formal wedding.
The other option is a pig roast, but that’s a whole other story…

I love the pizza idea! I like the red and white color scheme, but I do like the design elements of the first one.

I’m going to say the second one. It makes me think of Old School NYC Pizza/Italian restaurants. So if I just show up….just kidding :)

Looks like people are with me on the first invite. I might try to incorporate some of the cute-ness of the first into the old-world charm of the 2nd. OR maybe I’ll just print out 2 different sets. Hmmm.

@Mrs. Swan: Considering I was almost one of the outside spectators at your wedding, if you showed up I’d consider it even stevens ;)

I totally love both but the 2nd one screams pizzeria!! So I’d go with the 2nd one :) The wording is perfect too. I should also thank you! Thank you, for giving me a fabulous idea for our welcome dinner the day before the wedding. We don’t really need a normal rehearsal because there are no BM’s or GM’s and the ceremony is on the beach and it will be short but allllll of our guests are flying in and for most this is their first time in CA. So since we are right outside of Mexico and there are sooo many yummy mexican food places around here I just decided that’s what we should have for dinner! Thanks! :)

Personally, I like the first one! It’s exuberates a more fun and relaxed invite/dinner! I love pizza - definitely a food I can eat 7 days a week and be a-okay. I’m still trying to decide where to have my rehearsal dinner…

We had a pizza for our rehearsal dinner and it was the best thing ever. I like the first one but maybe change the color to red and black. Red just says pizza to me.

First one! (Which pizzeria is the one that’s closed for renovations?)
