Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Out of Town Guest Bags

March 18th, 2010 @ 5:50 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to put in our out of town guest bags. But as I procrastinate what to put IN them, I’m trying to figure out what to put the treats in. I found the sweetest glassine bags from Etsy seller In the Clear:

I think these are adorable, and 100 for $5 is such a bargain.

I also want to make our own little sticker to seal the packages. I found this on Style Me Pretty and I think it’d be perfect:

Our guests won’t be quite so lucky to receive macaroons, but I hope that they’ll still like what we give them.

Or, if you had a treat that you wanted to package a little differently, perhaps if you were having science themed wedding activities (Miss Guinea Pig), In the Clear has some very unique packaging:

So, what are my ideas for what to put in these bags? Well, I wanted to do a good mix of sweet, spicy and chocolate. I’ve come up with spicy peanuts:

Heart-shaped gummy candy:

Chocolate covered pretzels:

and Texas brewed Lone Star beer:

But, Miss Pug suggested jalapeno chips because she had them when she came to Texas and loved them. Then, Miss Hamster was talking about Hot Fries the other day, and man do I love them. So, I’m torn. Would you rather have jalapeno chips, hot fries or spicy peanuts as the spicy option in your out of town guest bag?

I think hot chips or spicy fries because you never know who is going to be allergic to peanuts and you wouldn’t want an emergency right before your wedding as some people can get sick just from touching them or eating food that touched them.

Can I be special and get all of those spicy treats ;) I kid. I kid. I vote for spicy peanuts only because I’ve had the other 2 outside of Texas and have never heard of spicy peanuts. They sound tasty! I’m going to keep my eye out for some.

I’ve seen those on papermart.com I totally wanted to buy the glassine bags, but in kraft paper in the 1/2 lb. size but can’t find them anywhere! Anyways, adorable!

I have never been to Texas, and have had everything other than Hot Fries, so I vote for those. I agree with a pp who didn’t like the peanuts because of allergy concerns… it’s just so common now, that I try to avoid them. Chips would be fine too.

Yay test tubes!! Must find way to incorporate those - they’d be great for a little treat in the OOT bags, thanks Fro Yo! :)
Also, I vote for spicy peanuts!

Spicy fries all the way! My only worry with peanuts is that someone might be allergic.

@missguineapig - I had test tubes for favors at my wedding. If you pm me I can tell you where I got them! They were cheaper than the ones In The Clear is selling.

I’m torn between jalapeno chips (which I adore, but some people don’t) and the spicy peanuts! And those test tubes are such a fun idea. I like that they are easily able to be corked again!

I love your ideas. And very sweet bags. I like the spicy peanut or jalapeno chips. Something that screams TX! What about Hot Tamales candies. Or Big Red Cream soda.

@Miss Cali Girl in NJ: I LOVE big red and cream soda!! I thought I was the only one!
@Album Boutique Team: I know! Both are great, it’s hard for me to choose too!

As someone cursed with a peanut allergy, I vote anything spicy that’s NOT peanuts! My FI says he votes for the chips (his fav flavor!) but I vote for the fries.

What are jalapeno chips?? I don’t know what they are, but they sound delish, so I vote for those! And if they’re hot, your guests have the beer to chug down after!

I love your ideas! I’ve been trying to decide what to put in the OOT bags for my Dallas wedding too! I just had to do a little FYI, Lone Star was bought by the Pabst Brewing Company ten years ago and the Lone Star Brewery was shut down. Lone Star isn’t so much of a Texas beer any more in my opinion. I would personally look for a sale, then buy one of the independent Texas beers like Shiner, Saint Arnold, or Real Ale!
