Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

Philosophy

March 19th, 2010 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, before the wedding I felt like my skin was fine, but I didn’t feel like it was all it could be. This became especially evident when I went through my two makeup trials. I typically wear very little makeup, but with the makeup trial I did the whole works, and my pores were SO obvious. I couldn’t believe it. So, last weekend I decided to go into Sephora to find something to help minimize pores.

I must have walked in with the look on my face that indicated I was going to buy a lot because everyone was very eager to help. Well, I stumbled into the Philosophy section and I was ready to spend some cash. I rubbed each and everyone one of the products on my hands, listened to the Sephora worker describe how each one would work and do wonders for my skin, and even managed to score several free samples.

Before this memorable trip to Sephora, my skin regimen consisted of two products:

Cetaphil cleanser and Jergens lotion.

I would wash my face twice a day (ok at least 5 times a week) and throw on some lotion.

However, now the counter of my sink looks something like this:

I bought the Miracle Worker Retinol pads and the Makeup Optional skin kit. And, as you know, my mom bought me the Clarisonic brush for my birthday. I’ve been using all of these together for about 4 days now and I have already noticed a difference. However, my skin is peeling slightly in some spots, so I might cut back to using the retinol pads every other day. I really hope that it will shrink my pores and make my skin beautiful.

Have any of you tried new skin care regimen to get ready for the wedding? What’s worked best?

Keep us posted! I’ve been meaning to go to the mall to pick out some products too, but wondering if it’s worth it!

Making sure I wash my face every night, even if I’m super tired, has made a big difference. I haven’t tried any new products lately, but I’ve always been intrigued by those kits. I used Purity and the moisturizer already, but haven’t ever tried the other products.

Using the Clinique 3 Step system twice a day, and an acne scrub once every other day has worked wonders for me. I’ve always wanted to try the Philosophy skin care, though - their body wash and bubble baths are amazing! Soothe Me is hands down the most relaxing bubble bath ever.

I love me some retinol! However, do cut back on it, as it sounds like it’s a little much for your skin. Seriously, I can’t live without it!

I use purity twice a day (expcept on the days where I exfoliate). That plus the change to power foundation has drastically improved my skin. Stress still gives me an occasional pimple, but much better than what I had!

I’ve used the Clinique 3-step for several years now and it’s made a huge difference. My skin is incredibly oily, and this is the only thing that’s ever helped.

I could spend DAYS in Sephora. I really liked Philosophy but I didn’t like the retinol. I tried it recently and I thought it really dried my skin out - but maybe I just have sensitive skin. I also used the C Booster powder and it seems to work pretty well in combination with the Bliss mattifying lotion.

Not skin care but try Urban Decay’s primer potion to keep eye makeup on all day…I love it for nights out.

Dry patches in only 4 days of using it means it is drying you out. When changing your skin care routine, my dermatologist recommends you do it slowly…so trying every other day is most likely the way to go.

I don’t understand what the big deal about visible pores is. Everyone has pores! A bigger deal in my opinion is acne, which I am still dealing with at 29, unfortunately.

It will probably take some time to get your skin used to a new routine so it might cause breakouts at first. Hopefully you have given yourself enough time before the wedding to make this drastic change!

@tea: Oh, I was the same way. I hope I can keep this up!
@Suzanne: You know, I felt the same way until I just realized how obvious they were and it really bothered me! I think it became even more obvious with the more makeup I put on.
@camrie: Thanks for the tip!! I need to try it! My makeup is forever rubbing off.
@Miss Lace: definitely will! Maybe even some before and after photos down the line…

I really need to get some better skin care products - my current skin routine is exactly what yours used to be, just with a different brand of lotion, haha. I should start saving up so I can buy some better stuff soon!

i love philosophy purity! when i moved from charleston to boston for school, my skin flipped out during the winter and this is so gentle i can handle it. as for the pore shrinking, you can’t actually change the size and they don’t actually open and close but you can make them less visible by keeping them clean. clinique has a pore minimizing lotion that’s also really great. you can just put it on under make up. (bonus: if there is a cosmetics company outlet near you, they often sell the bonus gifts that are left over for $9-$12. i’ve gotten the pore minimizer and then some in those before.)
