Saving Our Date

March 19th, 2010 @ 4:51 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

FINALLY! In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit indecisive. I just can’t stick with anything - I’m always looking for something better. To be honest, I think that was part of the problem with Mr. H Dizzle and me the last time around… I was just so obsessed and couldn’t think about anything else.

This is not so anymore! I’ve been making a concentrated effort to make decisions instead of being so wishy-washy in every aspect of my life.

Anywho, I’ve been working on our STDs for a few weeks, off and on. Being that we’re on a supa dupa tight budget and I don’t have Photoshop, I created them in Paint.net. I’m too lazy to take a picture and upload it, so I’ll just show you the file from my computer :)

Saving Our Date : wedding cheyenne diy save the dates Stdbac In case you didn’t notice, it’s a postcard. I love this idea because (1) it saves on postage and (2) it saves on paper!

I’m very excited that we were able to use one of our engagement photos on this, as I’m not sure where else to use them and I really want to show them off! Also, I didn’t use any fancy shmancy fonts, just the regular ones available with the program. I have tried downloading fonts and can’t get them to show up in the list, for some reason… meh.

I love the old-time(ish) look they have! I feel like it really starts to set the tone for the wedding! EEEP! I can’t WAIT to show you the invites, since I finished those, too. But you’ll just have to hold onto your horses for those.

Did you create your STDs yourself? Are there any free software or resources you’d like to share with the hive?

These look awesome, nice job!!! We are on a tight budget as well and did the postcards for the same reasons. I used Vistaprint and felt that the quality was good considering the price, I think I paid $16 for 100 2-sided colored postcards. Not sure if you are looking, but it may be worth checking out , oh and google for coupons, they are always having these crazy sales!

We are doing postcard STD’s too, for the exact same reasons you’ve mentioned. Yours are really cute!

I used Photoshop! Brushes are so awesome. We printed them as 5×7 photos from Costco and then spraymounted them onto cardstock!

We used Zazzle to design our postcard STDs–I found it really easy to use, it had lots of great designs, and the prices were quite affordable too (With shipping, we paid $75 for 100 postcards).

Very sweet photos! We made our own as well. I think it’s extra gratifying that way!

when you download the font, make sure you save it to a folder you can locate. then, open the open the window/file that shows the font in each standard size and shows what all the letters and numbers look like. then close and re-open word or whatever you’re using and it should be on the list as long as the font file is open. in order to send the file to a printer or whatever, it’s safest to make a pdf (directions can easily be googled). otherwise they would need to download the font and other craziness. if the font doesn’t come up on the list, type the name of the font into the box anyway and hit enter. it should work. i hope that helps!!!
