This past weekend, my best friend Sharon threw me a fantastic shower. In case you forgot, we planned to have it at my apartment on a Sunday night. The food was potluck style and let me tell you, nothing is better than potluck leftovers for dinner for a week!
She came over around 5:00PM and I was banished to the back porch and bedroom until told otherwise. At around 7:00, I was allowed out of my cage and I was presented with this…

She took all of my favorite engagement photos and had them matted and framed. It actually brought tears to my eyes when I saw it. I absolutely love it.
People started arriving shortly after…

FMIL and FSIL

Sisters on the left (I’m sad my youngest sis couldn’t make it from San Fran), and friends everywhere!

FMIL, Momma Nachos, and Princess

Once all 17 people arrived, we ate like champs. Sharon had everyone make a dish for the potluck and write the recipe on a card for me. She later pulled one recipe out of the box and the person whose recipe it was got a huge gift basket she made.

Next up, it was game time! Sharon passed out a list of questions for everyone to answer, asking things like where our first date was, what was the last gift we gave each other, etc.

Then it was my turn to answer. Ah, but there was a twist! If people’s answers matched mine, it didn’t matter, they had to match Mr. Nachos’ answers! Apparently she had asked him the same questions a few days before. I honestly panicked a little when I heard the first date question but I answered the same as Mr. N so it was all good! And, oh my, the moms were in an uproar when they and I got the question “what year did you two meet?” right, but Mr. N got it wrong.

Right answer: 1980. His answer: 1977. Apparently he thinks we met when I was born
One of the questions asked was where he proposed. Answer: in front of Crate & Barrel. Then I noticed I had this sitting next to me…

Amy won with the most answers matching Mr. Nachos’…

After game time, we had cake. And seriously??? Sharon made this for us with the cutest ring cake topper fit for a bride-to-be that loves sparkle and bling…

Now, how in the world do you cut a 3-tiered cake? Start at the top and work your way down, silly!

Finally, gift time! A few weeks ago, my friend Nicci had asked what I really wanted off the registry. Apparently she wanted something silly on hers and she was sad no one got it for her. I had told her I really wanted the Jupiter Jack, and guess what?…

And the funniest thing – BBB didn’t mark it on the registry, so I ended up with 2 more!

We got all of our towels…

And I got my coffee maker from my mom!!! Now I can replace my 8-year-old one…

We were given so many other great things including a digital picture frame from my FMIL that I can’t wait to upload pictures to, and lots of kitchen stuff. While I was opening everything, everyone passed around a journal to write marriage words of wisdom for us which I adore. And can you see that cute little sparkly necklace I’m wearing? Sharon made gorgeous favor boxes for all the guests with those inside…

Sadly, the party had to come to an end. And I actually took today off, secretly because I want to play with all of our gifts! (I do have other things I need to do but I think I may end up talking to my new Moshi alarm clock all day). I had such a wonderful time and Sharon went above and beyond the call of best friend duty.
Have you had your shower yet? What was your favorite part? (Mine secretly was getting 3 Jupiter Jacks only to find out they don’t come with an adapter for my phone!)
