Mrs. Veggie's Picture
Mrs. Veggie, Raglan, New Zealand/Scranton, PA Age and Occupation: 27, Director of Small Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 42, PhD Student & Farmer Engagement Date: June 13, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Indian Head Camp, Honesdale Pennsylvania About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.

Bite-Sized Veggies

March 20th, 2010 @ 4:00 pm by Mrs. Veggie

Maybe it’s just that time of the month, but I can’t get those little veggie sprouts out of my mind. Here’s an inspiration board I made devoted just to them.

Bite-Sized Veggies : wedding kids scranton 111 11

Sources: Top row (l-r)- The Children’s Place, Autumn Star Designs, Amazon, J. Crew, J. Crew; Middle Row (l-r)- Project Wedding, Velvet and Tweed, City Wendy, Chasing Fireflies, Oncewed; Bottom Row (l-r)- Newsies!, Oncewed, Kyle Hale, Chasing Fireflies

It’s undecided as to how many boy sprouts will make it down the aisle. But either way, they are all getting dressed up, mostly because I can’t resist baby-sized suspenders. Oh my goodness! Paired up with a newsboys cap, a tie, and a vest, and the Little Mr. Veggies will be looking dapper.

MIL Veggie has offered to make the flower girls’ dresses. She is aflutter with patterns and fabric swatches and design ideas. I can’t wait to see how they turn out. I’ll be sure to keep you updated. Don’t you love the pic of the little girl in red chucks and a tutu?

This is just an inspiration board, not the actual items we will use. As I start my kids clothes hunt, do you have any hints on where to purchase eco-friendly kids’ clothes that wont break the bank?

Oh my goodess! Could the middle outfit on the top row be any cuter? I think not!

We picked up my flower girl’s dress from Target for a cool $17. Best of all, at such a low price we were able to get two, just in case she outgrows the first one.

I’m sure Etsy would be the perfect place for eco-friendly clothes - and for finding just what you’re looking for. Most Etsy artists are willing to create what you have in mind if it’s not already listed in their shop. I haven’t purchased any little guy gear myself, but here are a few shops that look promising:

Addy Lynn for ties: http://www.etsy.com/shop/addylynn

BeanAndCo has some PRECIOUS vintage inspired attire: http://www.etsy.com/shop/beaneandco

That board is great. I bet you can definitely find some great eco-friendly finds on Etsy, just like @MeadowbelleMarket said!

What a great board! And I LOVE that fact that you used a pic from Newsies! It’s one of my all time favorite movies, and it’s what started my Christian Bale obsession.

Could you have a local seamstress make some, out of organic fabrics that you sourced?

Too cute veggie! I’m a big fan of thrift/vintage/flea markets for vintage kids clothes! They can be a lot harder to find than adult clothes though b/c kids are so much tougher on their clothes! This is totally in line with how we want our little stripes dressed though so thanks for the awesome board! :)
