Bridesmaid Dresses, Take II

March 22nd, 2010 @ 12:43 pm by Mrs. Paisley

My first bridesmaid dress plan tanked. Remember, I had put a deposit down on some used Twobirds designer dresses I found on the Weddingbee classifieds? Well, the bride I was getting them from no longer had the size B I needed for one of my ‘maids. The full price the dresses, at over $300, are waaaay out of our price range, so, I got my deposit back, and then it was back to the drawing board.

I found out there’s still time (barely) to order dresses from Aria, so I went to the Pasadena store yesterday and tried on about 50 different styles. It was actually pretty fun. I had the whole salon to myself for two hours, with one assistant who willingly snapped front and back pictures of each dress I tried on! I loved them all! The Paisley ‘maids are picking out any style they like, and now it’s up to me to pick a color and a fabric.

Here’s an inspiration board I made of me wearing my favorite Aria dress at the moment––the eyelet lace in powder blue. I included pictures of some of my wedding things to show how the colors will go well together:

Many of our paper products, like the favor boxes (shown above), the candy jar, beverage jar labels, and escort cards feature pale silvery blue and light aqua colors as well as eyelet lace. Plus there’ll be bunches of eyelet lace wrapped candles (also shown above) on all the tables at the reception.

Here’s a close up of the eyelet dress:

Their light blue in silk shantung was gorgeous as well:

Our flowers will be shades of pink, cream and yellow, like the bouquets in the inspiration board above, shown against some navy dresses. This got me thinking that our light-colored bouquets would pop nicely against the navy blue.

So, I tried on a navy blue dress at Aria:

I thought the color looked chic. Navy blue is currently an accent color only in our wedding decor. The addresses on the envelopes are letterpressed in navy, and one of the colors on our invitation suite is navy. The programs will be tied in a navy bow. So, it could work.

Plus my wedding gown, the ever-popular Lia by Melissa Sweet, is very elegant, and the ceremony is at six, which makes me think the navy blue might be the winner.

By the way, if anyone looking for an eyelet wedding gown, check Aria’s out (I just couldn’t help myself and tried it on while I was there!):

What do you ladies think would look best? I’m leaning toward the eyelet bridesmaid dress. It’s just so sweet. Gah! I’m having such a bad case of bridal indecision!

The eyelet dresses are rather unique but I do agree that for an evening do, the navy may be more glamorous. The eyelet dress is so tempting as a gorgeous springtime outfit though!

DEFINITELY the eyelet bridesmaid dresses! I love eyelet so much - plus they look nicer and are much more multifunctional than any other material - I can think of a number of occasssions that a sweet eyelet dress like that could be worn to! I also like the way they lay and flatter the body better.

The eyelet dress is glam, but the navy - that took my breath away! decisions, decisions, decisions! Let us know ASAP what the final decision is!

I’m going to have to go with the navy! It is more flattering for sure!

I’m a total sucker for all things navy… I’d go for that one!

We went with Aria for our bridesmaids dresses, too! I love the navy one — the eyelet is nice, but the navy seems more “evening-ish”. Not that that’s a word. ;)

I vote Navy. I’d be worried about the eyelet showing every lump and bump or undergarmets showing though.

I think the eyelet is pretty but more of a summer daytime kind of dress. I really like the second dress on you but I am also partial to the navy. I wanted navy and then picked a light blue which may be why I like the second dress the best.

i say navy blue. keep the other navy element as subtle as they are now, and add the dresses as the obvious part.

i actually like the navy blue dress color better than the eyelet. it feels like it would be the better choice for an evening ceremony.

My wedding dress is from Aria!! :D It just arrived last week and fits like a dream! It was done a month early, which was nice.

I’m jealous you got to go to the shop, I just drooled over them all online.

The navy is very chic, and I love the eyelet as well. I’m thinking the silk shantung might be the most re-wearable though. Gah is right!

All of those dresses are beautiful, but if you’re going for re-wearable, I would wear that eyelet dress all the time. It’s really pretty, and how fun would it be to wear in the summer? To me, it’s a hands-down eyelet.
