Chicago Bridal Market Show

March 22nd, 2010 @ 6:26 pm by Mrs. Powder Puff

Well, hello again, friends! Remember me? It’s Mrs. Powder Puff, buzzing back in to share a bit of bridal-y goodness with the hive.

This past Sunday, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Chicago Bridal Market with Mrs. Stiletto and two fabulous ladies from Project Wedding, Kate and Catherine. We chatted, attended a few runway shows, and generally had a fabulous time!

Attending a bridal market is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Instead of rubbing elbows with other brides, we had the opportunity to chat with designers and see their collections up close and personal! And boy, did we ever see some dresses. Check out some of the gorgeous new designs for spring 2010:

You know I’m a lace fan, and there was plenty to go around at the Allure Bridals show.

Watters got in on the lace action as well. I’m in LOVE with that belt! (Also, don’t you think that this model is Mrs. Quiche’s red-headed twin!?)

There were lots of flowers to be seen as well. And you couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a dress with pockets! This Watters dress has both a flower AND pockets. Double whammy!

This is probably my favorite dress of the day. The lace, the sleeves, that back!… soooo elegant! Robert Bullock really knows his stuff.

Liz Fields had some really awesome dresses as well. This one converts from a long, beautiful dress to a short lacy number by simply removing the skirt. Business on top. Party underneath.

Overall, I had a fantastic time! It was great to be able to experience a piece of the bridal industry from an insider’s perspective, rather than as a giddy blushing bride. It’s definitely a fascinating scene. It kinda makes a girl want to get married all over again!

Thank you so much to Kate and Catherine for showing me around!

What do you think are the trends in wedding gowns for 2010?

I wish I knew the name of that second Watters dress, the flower with the pockets! I love it, but couldn’t find it on their wesbite.

Quick question about one of the Watter’s dresses. I love Watter’s, but I haven’t seen the dress with the flower and pockets. Is it Fall 2010? Any idea when it will be available in bridal salons? Any information would be helpful! Thanks!

Some of those models need to smile! Yes, yes-that redhead does look like Quiche!! I heart the Watters pocket/flower dress and the long-sleeved gown as well. How great is that convertible dress?? I thought I would lose my infatuation with all things wedding once I was married-not so much!

They are fabulous!!
I especially like the Watters dress, probably because it looks so much like the dress I just bought (POB Maeve). Instead of a flower mine has a big bow! :)

@janicegiraldo: @vaness13181: I believe all these dresses are a preview of the dresses coming out soon (these are from runway shows Mrs. PP attended this weekend) (someone correct me if I’m wrong!) so they aren’t available quite yet but will be soon!

Pockets are totally awesome - lipstick, eyeliner, blotting sheets, etc. are now easily accessible and totally undetectable!
