About Mrs. Taco

Beanbags. Sort Of.

March 23rd, 2010 @ 10:36 am by Mrs. Taco

I’ll take one. Or 12 (of the stripey thing that also comes in a vast array of solid colors; note: not the chivari chair, to which I still ask, “what’s the big deal?”).

Beanbags. Sort Of. : wedding decor san francisco P112026 P1120261

K, our caterer/linens diva at Miraglia Catering in San Leandro, CA, turned me on to these beanbag dealies over at LaTavola, a linen company with a warehouse in the Laurel Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. I had already checked out the linens and napkin samples from Miraglia’s book o’ goodies, so I didn’t think the store would be that big of a deal. It turned out to be a lot of fun, especially because I’m a tactile, touchy kinda person.

I was skeptical when she said “beanbags” would be fun; I pictured accidental crotch-flashing galore and spilled drinks everywhere, but I think I’m sold. It seems like an easy way to create a more intimate, loungey feeling without spending tons extra on those tall little cocktail tables, tenting, mega-expensive lighting, or any of the other usual devices.

No, I’m not telling you where they’re going. ;)

Furthermore, I’m all ears if anyone can tell me why chivaris are such a big deal!

I’ve never seen black chivaris before! I guess I was more impressed with them when they were wooden. I can’t figure out what’s so special about the molded plastic ones.

The bean bags are interesting.

Intersted to see where you put the bean bags! And um, I’m with you on the chivari chairs. Expensive. Kind of odd looking. And probably uncomfortable on your back!

I have no idea about the chairs, either, but those beanbags are super cute! That would be a really fun way to get a lounge-y feel without spending a fortune on furniture rentals!

I love the bean bags! I don’t love the chivari’s either. I think people chose them because they’re less bad than the usual ugly-appolstered chairs offered at most venues. And perhaps less frilly than fabric chair covers.

Never would have found them if it wasn’t for my catering diva!

And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, touching linens and playing with colors is super fun :)

Chiavari’s are considered “the” wedding chair. I’m quite the fan of the acrylic ones. Curious to know what you do with them (or where you put them).

Chivari chairs are a big deal b/c everyone wants them. period. I’ll admit-I wanted them, but our semi-formal event looked just find with the padded white folding dealies-very garden-y. I love the beanbags-how funny-”crotch flashing”!

Love this idea - it’s different and really fun! I hope you don’t experience anyone flashing their Britneys! LOL!
