With less than two months until the Guinea Pigs tie the knot, my days as an official “single” lady (taxes = done!) are winding down.
Long long ago, I knew that I wanted to do a fun girls’ weekend as my bachelorette ’party’ so my friends who are scattered across the country could make a trip that was worthwhile (i.e., more than just for one night out) and they could all get to know each other better! With a free place to stay in Tahoe (score!) that my mom stocked with delicious food (and cookies, and fudge… yum), it was pretty much settled and we planned the weekend for mid-March when there would still be snow but it wouldn’t be freezing!
The weather was absolutely perfect. It snowed Friday (the day we got there), and then Saturday and Sunday were sunny and warm - we were a happy group!
(bridesmaids and friends the night we got there — sister GP is taking the photo)
As a thank you to everyone for making the trip all the way out to California, my mom put together gift bags for favors, and we spent the night relaxing by the fire, telling embarrassing stories about me, and opening thoughtful and naughty gifts from my friends!

(Left: opening awesome gift bags that Mom GP put together. Right: hilarious face after opening one of the naughty gifts, which I cropped out — hi mom!)
The next day, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we wanted to take advantage of the fresh snow that had just fallen, so we went snowshoeing! It was the first time in Tahoe for most of the ladies, and you can’t beat the views of the lake from the top of a mountain.
(Heading up Mt. Rose - look at that sky!)

(Well worth the fantastic view of the lake!)
(Soooomebody got a little mischievous and started sneak attacking with snowballs!)
After snowshoeing, oohing and ahhing over the beautiful scenery, and having a giant snowball fight, we were tired and hungry, so what better way to relax than to eat chocolate chip cookies and drink mojitos?!

(Oddly enough, my straight-edge sister is an awesome bartender!)
Then we headed down to the beach to get a close-up view of Lake Tahoe.
(Sister GP getting the star of the party (Kid, her chihuahua) some exercise!)
We made sure to relax in the hot tub, too!
(Hot tubs are fun when it’s cold out!)
After an afternoon of relaxing, playing games, chatting and watching the sun set over the lake, we packed into the cars and headed to the bowling alley!
(Friend L used the technique we dubbed “The Birthing Method”)
At the end of the night after two games (both of which were the highest-scoring games I’ve ever bowled — one of them I had 5 strikes! Unheard of, for me) the guy behind the counter heard someone say “bachelorette” and when he figured out it was me, I was handed a triple shot of citron vodka. Until this point in the evening I’d been completely sober, but after this we left and went to a bar… there are no pictures from that part of the evening, but it was a ton of fun and I remember it all entirely, so I deem that a success!
The next day a couple of us went skiing, and this is my favorite photo because it looks like I just successfully completed a race… when in fact, those are just the gates for the chair lift!
(Goooooooooold!!! #1 in chairlift-lining-up-ability. A highly sought-after medal, I might add.)
We spent the rest of Sunday relaxing and chatting. It was pretty mcuh the most awesome bachelorette weekend I could have imagined. I loved having all my best friends together at once, and we had so much fun. My friends made sure I didn’t have to worry about a single thing, and I felt so loved.
While it wasn’t your stereotypical bachelorette party, it was completely ’me’, and it was far and above what I could have hoped for. I am so grateful to my friends and sister for being so supportive of me and Mr. Guinea Pig, and this weekend showed me just how lucky I am to have all these wonderful people in my life!
What kind of bachelorette fun are you hoping to have? Did you have a hand in planning your bachelorette party? Anyone else plan a whole weekend of fun with their friends? I highly recommend it!
