About Mrs. Cheeseburger

So, after you ladies gave me so many amazing tips here, I couldn’t NOT give you a quick update as our wedding rapidly approaches! :)

I tried so hard not to bite my nails, and I was successful for two whole weeks (that’s good for me)! But, during a stressful period last weekend (I lost my phone), I caved and bit them. I was so mad at myself afterward, and tried hard to resist the urge this week.

Yesterday, Cheeseburger Mom was getting a pedicure, and I came along to hang out with her. Between her and the people at the nail salon, they convinced me that my nails were not too short to get a manicure. I was embarrassed and skeptical, but I figured that it couldn’t hurt to let them try.

And WOW, the results are pretty wonderful.

Confessions of a Nail Biting Bride: A Quick Follow-Up : wedding beauty pittsburgh Photo021

No, my nails aren’t super long, but I am really happy with the results, and I’ll be trying my hardest to keep these nails looking pretty for the big day! If anything goes wrong though, I’ve got 2 packs of my old faithfuls ready to go!

Thank you, thank you, thank you hive for your incredible advice and wisdom on this topic! Yay for pretty nails! :)

Oh yay!!! They are so pretty :) I will have to try this instead of fake nails. I really didn’t want fakes.

They came out great! I find that when my nails aren’t manicured I tend to bite and pick at them, so this definitely helps!

Wow, those are your nails after you give in and bite them? I’m jealous! Mine wouldn’t look that good after the two weeks of non-biting.

They look great!

Hi Miss Cheeseburger! I am hoping from your post tag that you are in the Burgh - so am I! I think your nails look great and as a fellow nail biter, I feel your pain.

I am living in Los Angeles and the Burgh right now flying back and forth and have found a product that I am simply in love with. Soak off gel nails. They sound a little different than what other people were suggesting but also calling gels. This is just a special kind of polish (i think it’s only made by OPI) and it gets cured by a UV light. It stays on for 2-3 weeks and doesn’t chip or anything. It gets painted on your natural nail and adds as much thickness as regular nail polish. I had it done in Pittsburgh, at the nail place in Squirrel Hill on Forbes (definitely ask for Ashley, the daughter, her attention to detail is key for a french mani). and then when I went to LA I searched for a place to get it done and there were only 2 in all of LA! So I think it’s a pretty new product. The place I went in LA was the ROBB Salon which is owned by the son of the owners of OPI. It was a great experience but really expensive! The same product in Pittsburgh was half the price (of course!)

I really recommend this stuff because it doesn’t damage my nails and it lasts like a champ. I hope this helps and good luck! Nail biters unite!

Lovely. Short nails are key for me, as well as leaving the loose skin around them ALONE! I’m such a picker, it’s terrible.

They look great! Your nails are longer than mine are, and I don’t bite- they just crack very easily so I am always having to cut them down. I went with fakie nails for the wedding b/c I love the look of pretty nails too!

So pretty!! My brother bites his nails so far down that he gets infections all the time! Finally we had to soak them in vinegar/put nail polish remover on them so he would stop!!!
