How Fascinating! (Har Har)

March 25th, 2010 @ 2:06 pm by Mrs. Hamster

As my to-do list of fun things gets shorter and my “Get back to this later” list gets longer (book transportation? Bleh!), I hold on to those precious few tasks that still are still entertaining - namely shopping, accessories, and shopping for accessories. Today’s shopping task? Hair accessories.

As a reminder, my hair will look something like this:

How Fascinating! (Har Har) : wedding accessories hair nyc Trial trial

At my hair and makeup trial last year.

… and I’m going for a ’40s vintage/glam look. With that in mind, I turned to good old Etsy, where I purchased these vintage rhinestone hair combs from seller eabdesigns:

At approximately 1.25″x1″ each, I thought these combs would add a bit of bling without overwhelming my hair.

Of course, then I kept looking through Etsy, and I thought a fascinator for the reception would be cute. So I also purchased this white feather fascinator from seller bridalcouture:

I love the look of this, but I’ll have to see when it arrives - will I look fun and vintage glam, or will I be all “Hey hey - look at me, FEATHERS!!”?

I’ll have to try it out.

Did you love the look of fascinators but are hesitant when it comes to how it’d look on you? Did you end up loving the look after trying some on?

I really wanted to do a fascinator like the gorgeous ones you pictured, but I’m going with a more rustic flower one instead because of my dress and our venue. I love them all!

My mom just got remarried and she bought a beautiful fascinator from that same seller, and it’s beautiful!

So funny! I was just looking at those same rhinestone ones from eabdesigns. I saw that they were SOLD, and it’s funny that you bought them. I’ve since found another comb. I also love the idea of the feather, but I’m not sure I can pull off the look. I’m sure you will look amazing in both!

Yes! I made my fascinator and stuck it in my hair and didn’t like it. I don’t know where to put it and it doesn’t help that my hair is TOTALLY not done when I am doing this.

You’ll look fabulous. :)I love the combs!

That fascinator is glamorous! I’m going with the traditional flower in the hair for the reception.

Oooo those are totally vintage glam. I have this vision of myself wearing something equally glam… and I keep doubting the look on me. I can’t wait to see what they look like on you!

Every day I stalk Etsy looking for the perfect hair piece and every time I question if it will look good on me or not! :(

Yes. I totally felt this way about hair pieces. I was also worried that they literally wouldn’t fit in my hair because of my locs. I’m sure it will look great on you when it arrives.

I love the feathers! I also look at fascinators but I get worried that since I have a pretty big face that if I put something big near it, it will only make my face look bigger! I think they are fun and different, which fits my personality, but I don’t know if I can rock that look yet or not!!
