My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Asking the Bridesmaids

March 26th, 2010 @ 1:01 pm by Mrs. Jellyfish

Mr. Jelly and I have a huge bridal party. He’s having 8 groomsmen, and I’m having 8 bridesmaids. My bridesmaids are all so special to me, and I’ve known them from different stages of my life. For example, I’ve been best friends with my MOH and cousin practically since I was a baby, and my college roommates and besties are all there, too! So when it came to asking my bridesmaids, I wanted to do something special. I found inspiration from several wedding blogs, and combined a few ideas to make my own cards with a little poem inside:

Asking the Bridesmaids : wedding bridesmaid gift pleasanton 120 1

The front of the card. I bought plain cards from Michaels and cut out dresses out of coral paper. I calligraphed the name of each bridesmaid on the front and drew a little hanger. Then I glued the dress onto the hanger and glued on accent crystals.

Inside each card was this poem, which I found online:

The day, the dress
The bride, the groom
The joy, the tears
Will all come too soon
Professing my love
To my husband-to-be
With family and friends
All watching me
Because to me you mean so much
I have one thing to say which I will phrase as such:
Nothing will give me more joy and pride,
Than to have you up there right by my side
You’ve stood right beside me through thick and thin,
And I want you to be there when I marry him.
Many great memories I have shared with your smile,
So, I want you to meet me at the end of the aisle.
Will you be my bridesmaid?

Along with a card, each girl received a framed photo of us together. This one, of me and BM I, was taken at a ’20s themed Murder Mystery party.

Did you do anything special to ask your bridesmaids?

I swear, your post just proves that I am the only un-crafty person here!

Very cute! I love the cards! I would not have the patience to cut out all of those dresses, nor the skill to calligraph the names! Beautiful job.

Love it!! Totally love the poem - it’s too perfect! I might steal this idea as part of my bridesmaid gift (change up the poem a bit to say Thank you at the end or something)!

I was too excited to think of anything at the time, so when I called them to tell them the good news I just ask them right then. I love the frame with pic. Nice personal touch.

@Miss Burgundy - trust me, you are not alone! I bought a “heart” hole punch last night, which is now the only crafty thing I own, and I felt like I was the ultimate craft genius.

This is an awesome idea. I made each of my girls handmade cards with a list of all the bridezilla-ish things I promised not to make them do. :)

That poem is so sweet!!! Actually made me a little teary. I love that we’re not having a bridal party but if we were, I’d love to have sent something like that. So thoughtful, Jelly!

That’s adorable! I totally wanna use the poem–maybe re-word it for their thank you cards after the wedding? Thanks for sharing, Jelly!

Wish I had. I did give them the ugly dress card with their faces Photoshopped in with their gifts. Mrs. Kitten asked her maids with the same card.
