Bedazzling Myself

March 26th, 2010 @ 1:53 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

I’m not much of a jewelry person. The only thing I’ve worn consistently at any point in my life has been my e-ring. So it doesn’t really make sense for me to buy new pretties that I’ll probably only wear once!

Instead, I’m wearing jewelry Mr. Hot Dog has bought for me.

OMG I need to bleach my counters! Hello, red cup ring. Please forgive my heinous housekeeping skills!

The earrings are teardrop cut citrine with 3 small diamonds and the bracelets are cultured freshwater pearls. And they’re both recent gifts—the earrings for Christmas and the bracelets for our Valentine-iversary (our date-iversary is Feb. 15th).

Both pieces are also my favorite color! I love hues of yellow and orange. I’m looking for more little ways to add this color to the wedding… and why not, since we’ve pretty much thrown out the color palette. Wait, did we even have one to begin with?? That’s another post…

Are you wearing jewelry that has some sentimental value?

My “something blue” are earrings that my mom gave me. They are also my birthstone which is aquamarine, so they are very sentimental. I have no idea who to wear other than that though! LOL I still need a something borrowed, so hopefully someone with help me out there too.

I have the necklace (christmas present from my FI!) that matches your earrings! : )

I am wearing pearls that my Fiance got me as a present, and my favorite blue topaz earrings that were a gift from my Aunt.

It always made the most sense to me to wear beautiful jewellry with lots of sentimental value for my wedding. I’ll be wearing the locket my fiance gave me for my 19th birthday. I wear it all the time and I can’t wait to wear it for the wedding.

I too am going the sentimental route. I have diamond earrings that belonged to one of my favorite aunts. I’ve worn them for graduations and other special events in my life, so it just seemed like a natural fit to wear them for the wedding.

FI got me studs for my birthday this year; because I want a more dramatic look for the wedding, I am going to wear them for the dancing portion at the reception. It’ll be the first time that I wear them.

Otherwise, I am currently bidding on lovely chandelier earrings on ebay, won and bought a necklace and bracelet on ebay, and for my MOH, purchase a lovely earrings/bracelet set from an etsy designer for cheap (seller is goshengirl on etsy). So I didn’t spend a lot, and I plan to at least sell the bracelet, keep the earrings and necklace for future use.

I am going the sentimental route as well. I am wearing a necklace that my Great Grandmother, Nana, and now I will wear for our weddings. Not my style at all, but the meaning behind means so much more than my taste I think :)

No sentimental jewelry here, and I won’t even be able to wear my e-ring down the aisle. I’ll feel naked!

Nope. All new (other than my e-ring). I did choose amethyst which is my birthstone, and my fiance picked out the necklace. Though I’m not 100% in love with the necklace, so I may either try to find a different one to purchase, or one that I already own. It sort of matches the earrings, but isn’t my style or the wedding style at all. Oh well, still have some work to do I guess.

I think it’s so sweet that you’re wearing gifts he gave you, what a great idea!

YES! I wore the same pearls that my grandmother wore when she married my grandfather 57 years ago! I’m not sure if she or I were more excited that I got to wear them.

LOVE those earrings! I will be wearing an amethyst ring on my right hand that FI gave me for my 19th birthday 8 years ago. I wore it every single day for years until he gave me my e-ring, so I can’t imagine not marrying him with it on.

Pretty much all of my wedding day jewelry has sentimental value - grandma’s wedding band, necklace is my something new, etc. And no worries on the countertop stains, that’s what mine look like most of the time unless I have people coming over!

I’m wearing only jewelry gifted from my fiance as well. Diamond stud earrings and a diamond solitare necklace.

I’m wearing my great grandmother’s CZ necklace. I was originally planning to buy something new and realized that I’d had this necklace for a while and that it matches the rhinestone broach on my dress. Way more fun than something new!
