Mrs. Jellyfish's Picture
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
About Mrs. Jellyfish

Our venue has a wonderful foyer area though which the guests will enter:

Honoring Our Families: Wedding Portrait Table : wedding decor family pleasanton We’re planning on setting up the back table with framed wedding photos of our immediate family members. Over the last few months, my mama’s been scouring stores for the appropriate frames for this project.

I’m pleased to announce that we have all the frames, and they look great! I’m pretty sure she found all of them at Michaels. I think they’ll match our Tuscan-inspired venue perfectly. Here they are, all set up in our apartment:

Here are the photos I’m going to put in them:

I still need to get pictures of Mr. Jelly’s maternal grandparents!

My only question is: do you think it would look better to have all the photos in black and white, or should I leave the colored ones in color? I could easily edit them on my computer so I’d love to hear your thoughts!

How formal are you going on the wedding/reception. Black and white would make it more like a planned display rather than a hodgepodge of photos. If you are doing a rather relaxed wedding then a mix of color and b/w is good but you may want to vary the colors of the frames so that the color of the photos aren’t so noticable. =)

I love this idea… and have been planning on incorporating it into our wedding, too!

I’ve run into a problem tho… maybe the hive has some suggestions…. My fiance’s parents are divorced, and have both remarried. Do we include photos of his mother and father, mother and step-father, father and step-mother?
I feel like it is a little disrespectful to include one without the other??

Leave the prints as they are, some in B&W, some in color. I think it shows off the different ages

I really wish we could do this!!!!!!!!!! unfortunately, we’re both products of multiple generations of (multiple) divorce couples… ack, talk about depressing hopes lol

I think B&W but only because I prefer B&W photography.

You guys are so lucky that you get to have such a meaningful display at your wedding- so jealous! Are you going to hang them in your house after the wedding? that could be really cool to add your picture in with those on a wall somewhere!

I think black and white would be more cohesive, but I like BDubya’s idea of showing off the various ages of the photos by what is in color or not!

It’s a great idea though and I’m sure everyone will enjoy seeing the pictures.

You could scan the black and whites and colorize them a little bit, to make them go more, but still show the different ages.

I think you should show the pictures in their natural state. I love that the color (or lack of) shows when they were taken.

I like the idea of them all being uniform–though I would go with a more antique-y sepia instead of b/w!

I am in the same boat however I’m going to leave mine as the color they are to show the ages. I like that look as well. Regarding divorced parents - I’m showing wedding day pics with their current spouse.

I think they should all be uniform! I love the frames you found - they coordinate so nicely!

i think b/w would definitely make it look more like a “collection”.. but i’d do a grayscale then duotone to add warmth.

love this idea!

I vote for leaving the photos in their original form - color and black & white. I think it’s a nice way to highlight the progression.

My mom also wore a hat when she married my dad! Ah, wedding trends. I think this is a such a nice idea, and the frames you chose are very elegant.

I’m doing this with pictures of my grandparents… like some posters above, my parents are divorced and remarried so it’s a bummer that I can’t really do it with everyone. I would love to include a picture of my mom’s wedding to my stepdad (with me as their flower girl!), but I would prefer not to draw any additional attention to my dad’s wedding to his current wife. But at least everyone will enjoy seeing pics of my grandparents at their weddings :)

We’re doing the same at our wedding - and we’re going all Black & White because it looks so timeless/classic.

Black & white. The pictures are lovely but the difference in color is rather distracting. B&W will make it feel like a cohesive set instead of having one pic stand out more than the rest.
