About Mrs. Parfait

Oh, Shoe-y

March 26th, 2010 @ 10:50 am by Mrs. Parfait

My search for wedding shoes started when I saw this photo on a magazine cover:

Oh, Shoe-y : wedding chicago shoes 13 1

Source

I loved everything about this look—the simple veil, the puffy skirt, the sparkly cuff, the pink bouquet. But today, I’m only talking about the shoes. Let’s zoom in on those kickers, shall we?

Oh, Shoe-y : wedding chicago shoes 24 2

When we started wedding planning, these shoes were the only concrete detail I had in mind. I wanted a bright pop of pink to peek out from under my dress with every step. I wanted cutesy photos of our shoes side by side. I wanted to play the Shoe Game, just so we could show off my candy pink heels.

Fast forward to two years later. The wedding is mere weeks away, and I’m still a shoe-less bride. The originals in the photo are too high for my wobbly self, so I’ve had my eye on a few shorter options:

Source

I love the shade of pink above, but I’ve never spent even close to $300 on shoes.

The puff is too cute! But again, I face the hurdle of the several hundred dollar price tag.

Oh, Shoe-y : wedding chicago shoes 54 5

These flats look so comfortable, and at $65, they’re much more affordable. But really, I couldn’t spend that much on flats. Sigh! You’d think my thrifty ways would keep all prospects at bay.

But nay! Since my search began over a year ago, I’ve actually purchased and kept two pairs of pink shoes.

Oh, Shoe-y : wedding chicago shoes 63 6

I found the bejeweled pair above on sale for $9.97 at Ann Taylor. The Ninas below were on clearance for $12 at Carson Pirie Scott. Now that’s more my price range! :P I’ve worn them both for dress-up events, but they’re a little too dark to serve as my wedding shoes. They’re more deep raspberry than bright candy pink.

So with less than a month till the big day, I come to you, hive! I’m open to any advice. Should I wear one of the pink pairs I already own? Should I shell out $300+ for the exact color I want? Or do you know where I can find the perfect pink heels for, oh, say $15 max? Okay okay, $50 max? :)

I say splurge on one of the expensive pairs. Cheap heels *hurt* and this is one day you’ll want to have them on for like 18 hours. Get the good ones and you’ll forget you even have them on!

Have you tried looking on ebay for any of the too expensive shoes? Also, have you looked on Amazon for pink shoes? Their prices are sometimes way below the competitions (and sometimes above). Of the ones you posted above, I love the Puff ones and the flats the best. Have you thought about finding what you want in a dyable shoe? Any white or ivory satin shoe can be dyed!

I just bought some here: http://www.unforgettablemoments.com/ in a bright fuschia. They have several colors to choose from and free shipping. Good luck in your shoe search!

Those are the flats that I bought for my wedding! I love them and I am so excited to wear them. $65 was a bit much for me to swallow for flats, but it is for my wedding, and I know I will be able to wear them again. We are getting married on a farm, and I didnt even want to think about my shoes sinking into the ground while we are saying our vows.

^^you could try buying these at a steal for $10 and then putting on DIY flowers to look like the $69 ones.

^^ these are fun and flirty and half the price of the ones you posted!

good luck with your shoe hunt!

I wanted the ‘Clarice’ for my wedding be almost died when I saw the price. I thought I could shell out that price on gorgeous shoes… but I just couldn’t do it. It was too much for me to handle. So I looked online and on eBay for cute shoes (via JCrew, etc) and found these gorgeous beauties, that are PERFECT:

But, I did see these JCrew shoes on eBay, not sure if they are the right color pink for you?

(don’t know what size you are, but these are all over ebay)
Good luck girl!!

I just splurged and spent $200 on my wedding shoes. I bought silver shoes because I felt I would wear them again because of their neutral color. I would go for the expensive pair if you felt they could be reworn otherwise, go for something a touch cheaper and add inserts!

I feel your pain! I’m also looking for pink shoes in the same shade. I have found some great ones that are a little too expensive or high for me, so I’m still looking….

Hi Ms. Parfait,

I have the pair of Stuart Weitzman’s in the color you want. I was going to wear them for my wedding but decided for another shoe. They are brand new size 8.5. I was going to sell them in the classifieds here, but if you are interested, let me know! They are super comfortable and so cute!

Best,
Rachel

I 2nd the dyable shoe option. Lots of options. A lot less expensive than $300 bucks. And you can get your perfect shade.

Also, I just saw these online.

That was my very first inspiration picture as well! There’s just something about it :)

I’m going to end up going with the Nina Electra’s - but I’ll likely remove the ankle strap. Have you looked at their website? You can go the Design Your Own shoe route and choose a lower heel height (but I’m not sure how long that would take).

Get the kate spades. you can wear them again and it’s nice to have a good pair of shoes. They’ll last for years where as $15 while good for the present, won’t stand the test of shoe time.

If it makes you feel any better, I tried on the shoes in your inspiration picture and they were so super narrow I could barely get them on my feet! So much for expensive shoes being more comfortable.
