Instead of using Martha’s tutorial as many have used, I used Zakka Life’s tutorial for tissue poms. The major difference are the rounded edges, 2 slits in the middle of the accordion folds, and using yarn to tie them.

So, here are my own changes.

(1) I folded the accordion in half, then cut the 2 slits on both sides.

(2) I used leftover yarn I had laying around. I cut 11 inch long pieces of yarn.

(3) Wrap the yarn around your tissue paper and pull it through the slits.

(4) Tie 2 knots.

(5) Then tie a loose knot with piece A around piece B. Or, said another way, tie a knot around your finger with piece A, and stick piece B through it.

(6) Tighten the knot. Now you should be able to slide the piece A up and down piece B.

(7) Slip the yarn around a rolled up napkin.

(8) Hold piece B and slide piece A to tighten around the napkin.

While waiting for the big Fluffing Party, these pom babies get to live in old Deli Meat plastic containers that are filling up my pantry! I fit 40 into each container.

So, why use yarn instead of the wire that Martha and other’s use?
Voila! Le Tissue Paper Pom Corsage!

Since the yarn is soft and the single knot allows the ring to be tightened and loosened, it can be transferred from the napkin to le wrist! Corsages for everyone!
Has anyone else altered Martha’s pretties to suit their needs? What else can you do with these pom babies?
