The bride’s day-of attire is a surefire cost suck. As usual, the groom’s attire is anything but.
My groom isn’t a tuxedo person, exactly. He looked handsome in a tux at his brother’s wedding in 2008 (see below); a) don’t mind the jig, b) yes, he’s wearing cowboy boots, c) yes, it was in Texas. As nicely as he cleaned up that day, it still felt like he was playing-dress-up. Has anyone felt the same way seeing their fella in a tux? Anyway, encouraging him, his groomsmen, his ushers, and our dads to wear their own black suits on Big Day was our preferred option.

Mr. Taco has a black Banana Republic suit he wears to all dress-up events (holiday parties and other people’s weddings, including one he was in), and it’s going to make yet another appearance on wedding day. New shoes are probably in order, as is lengthening the pants. Suits are so weird: almost as weird as dresses and pants for us ladies, I dare say. I hate when the pants rise ever-so-slightly too high, rather than sitting properly on whatever shoes you’re wearing. I also dislike that Talking Heads look when they’re too big, as I’m not getting married in 1983, nor am I marrying David Byrne or putting on a huge show for your entertainment (or am I?).
I’m sure we’ll figure him out before long, probably weeks or months before my own alterations are sorted out.
Did your groom end up wearing something he already owned for the wedding, or did you find that new clothes were in order for the big day?
