Now that I had my hair mostly settled, it was time to move on to the makeup trial! This was fun too, because I can’t even remember the last time I had my makeup professionally done - I think it was a birthday party in middle school where we all got ’makeovers’?!
I searched through many, many photos of makeup inspiration and selected about 4, which I printed on one page and then very cleverly forgot in the printer at work when I went to my trial. So in a last minute scramble in the car in front of Amie Decker’s, I pulled up this photo on my phone and sheepishly showed it to Amie when we sat down:

Still, Amie knew what she was doing. She looked at the photo and asked very specific questions about what it was I liked about that photo: do I like the shimmery eye shadow? Do I want my lips to be pink? Do I normally use blush on my cheeks? I felt like she was drawing a map in her head of how and where she was going to use products!
Here is the requisite Before photo, with no makeup:
And the after photo, with makeup!
When I first saw myself in the mirror at the trial, I thought, ‘ho.ly. crap. SO MUCH MAKEUP.’ But when I got home and had Mr. GP (who really liked the makeup) take a photo, I realized that it actually isn’t that much, it’s just a lot more visible than the makeup I wear normally! My favorite part is definitely the eyes - I wish I knew what I was doing with eyeshadow on a day to day basis…
Here’s a close up of my eye and the awesome fake eyelashes (that I now want to wear every day but probably could not for the life of me figure out how to do myself):
(I loved the eyeliner and eyeshadow, although this single eye photo is sort of creepy… sorry!)
Aaand one last photo of the makeup from the side, because I thought Amie did a great job at giving me the illusion of high cheek bones!

I liked the blush and the lip color a lot, and overall I was incredibly happy with the makeup. A couple friends and my mom have said “More eyes!” but I’m not sure I could handle more eyeshadow!
What do you all think?
What look are you going for on your wedding day? Did your makeup artist ask you more questions about makeup than you had ever thought about?!
