Save the Dates

March 29th, 2010 @ 9:18 am by Mrs. Taco

Saving the date? You can just do this verbally. Or with a YouTube video. Or via some other well-designed, adorable electronic way. Half the people receiving them probably know the date already, anyway, right?

But where’s the fun in that?

(Click that sucker for an enormous image; names and website whited-out from the middle)

Mucho thanks to stationery diva and friend Lisa at Good on Paper Design for the excellent work. We love photo strips, we love the look of old film, and we love Kevin, April, and the photos they took of us. With Lisa’s help, we now love Pantone color 1807 and sage envelopes from Paper Source.

I flirted with the idea of wax seals as adhesive, but the time involved and end result (more old English than sexy vintage) weren’t exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something that looked both rough around the edges, but still clean and well-put-together. I decided on having them “sealed” on the back with a customized Art Deco stamp logo designed by AsspocketProductions (here’s her Etsy shop). Hand-stamped with love thanks to my one-fiancé sweatshop, they were done in no time. With “rough” also came the idea of me just handwriting the names and addresses on the envelopes, which I actually really enjoyed. Here’s the save-the-date farm in action:

The round, Deco return-address labels were done by Elaine Biss; the green matches the envelopes perfectly. They were stuffed and sealed with glue sticks, and off they went.

I loved them, and I hope everyone else did, too.

How much did your FI take part in assembling your save the dates?

My fiance actually took the photo for, and designed our STDs. I think he also rubber stamped the envelopes! He’s a lifesaver, and my only helper for our STDs, and Invites!

Rough around the edges but clean!!! I love it!! Great job. Mr. Hot Wings didn’t help that much, but that’s ok. Mr. Taco looks like he enjoyed the process.

@Miss Scissors: @jordynrose: Thank you, ladies! I used to be mega-anal about it and my day-to-day handwriting isn’t nearly as nice, but I can call it up when I need to :D

Thanks to everyone! Mr. Taco was a huge help and he’s been such a trooper throughout this whole wedding process!

Your handwriting is great-looks like a font! And look at your cute FI stamping all of those envelopes. I fell in love a little more every time my husband helped out with ridiculous wedding tasks. Your e-pics came out great-espec. the obligatory ring shot.
