Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
About Mrs. Argyle

What’s in a Name

March 29th, 2010 @ 2:54 pm by Mrs. Argyle

It was no question we were going to include a monogram somehow into the wedding. I love to monogram things. Towels, bags, etc. I also love when friends get things monogrammed for me (e.g. my overnight bag from the Argyle MOH). I immediately came up with this design to incorporate into everything:

What's in a Name : wedding st louis stationery Monogra

While it seems like I should be incorporating my new last name into the monogram, I preferred the letter “B” so much more. I’ve always loved that letter, so for all obvious reasons, including the fact that BOTH of our names start with a “B”, it only seemed right to use it instead.

And, I even created a derivative look of the monogram for our Save the Dates:

The original monogram will be carried out on our cake design, and we have one of our vendors who is handling the set-up of much of our decor and lighting, who will be shining a lighted version of our monogram on the floor in front of the elevators where guests first enter our reception room.

We have a few other ideas for how to incorporate the monogram, but just want to make sure we don’t overdo it since it is not the central “theme” of our wedding.

Did any of you create a monogram to be used throughout your decor?

Oooh…I like. It’s like your own trademark. My FI and I are a “double-B” couple too. Hadn’t thought about monograms, but now I might!

It’s very cute and simple. We didn’t do a monogram because our initials with our new last name would actually be my new initials. It looked a little funny and made it feel like it was all about me, which it certainly was not.

We also are doing the first initials-split-by-line style!

I love the little dot monogram, not only because it’s my initials but because it’s just so bubbly. It also sorta reminds me of those colorblind tests that I always found so fascinating….

Oh we couldn’t use any of our initials as they would make people think otherwise… Formal = R & D aka research and development and common names = B & J…well I’m sure you all know that one if it lacks the &.

I love your monogram! We’re having it displayed on our wedding cake only. Plus, the monogram on our cake still phonetically spells out my name - it was meant to be!! :-)

@jadeblue: Yay for “Double B’s” haha!

@Miss Hamster: Awesome - I love that look!

@labrat: Glad you like the second one! And, I see what you mean with your initials.

@alivoo01: How perfect is that?!

We created a very simple monogram, but so far we have only used it on the invites. Not sure we’ll use it on anything else, but I do love it! Love yours! We also used first name initials only! I love my fiance’s (my future) last name, but I felt using his last initial removed my and my family’s presence too much, so we went w/ first initials only. :-)

My husband photoshopped up a great monogram. We used it on our menu & program and painted it on our aisle runner. Our cake monogram was just a simple black script A. I love your monogram designs!!

I love monograms, I don’t think we are using it in our wedding ….but that could change. Yours looks great!

I love it, I like when the monogram is developed & it really fits the couple and formality of your wedding!

We developed one that included the tree we were married under. I heard a few people recognized it when people arrived at the ceremony!

We made a rubber stamp with our monogram and used it on a few things and because it was a stamp it was cheap to produce on a few items like out of town bags, blank coasters, and our invitation envelopes. Stamping was my husband’s job ! :)
