Mrs. Hamster's Picture
Mrs. Hamster, New York City Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy Engagement Date: March 9, 2009 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Pierre Hotel About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. About Mrs. Hamster

They’re finished and (almost) out the door! Finally, the Hamster invitations! Let’s jump right in, shall we?

At Long Last - The Hamster Invitations! : wedding diy invitations nyc stationery 11 1

Our guests will first see the outer envelope, with a Zazzle stamp featuring a photo from our engagement shoot and lovely calligraphy by Carmela (previously posted here):

The Goccoed return address:

… and what have we here? Why it’s the navy inner envelope, addressed by Carmela in gold ink!

By the way, I wanted to have a “famous person” invitation done so that I could show Carmela’s work without having to blank out any address details. I asked the Mister if he would rather receive congratulations from the Obamas or Mickey Mouse. While he ended up choosing Obama, it was definitely a tough decision. Anyway.

Taking a sneak peek inside:

The main invitation card, reception card, and RSVP card, Goccoed by yours truly.

The full suite:

And there you have it, Bees! There were battles won and lost, triages, and changes in strategy (I won’t go into too much detail, but let’s just say some lucky guests will get edge-painted reception cards and some will not). The whole process took a lot longer than I anticipated, and in the end, we didn’t save much money (boo). However, as a non-DIYer, this is a major win! If I can do it, so can you!

Stunning! Also, I posed my fiance the same question and after much deliberation he picked the Obamas too! (It was tough, since we’re going to Disneyworld for the honeymoon).

Thanks, ladies!! It was such a long and arduous process to get this done, so your comments mean a lot! :)

@mrspaetz: I believe my FMIL is taking care of the Singapore invites - phew!
