I may not be crazy about Tiffany’s, but Sister Starfish is.
I may not have mentioned that Sister Starfish and I were engaged within the same year. She and BIL Starfish were engaged in March and Mr. Starfish proposed in October. We spent an entire year of planning two weddings at once! It was crazy, busy, and a lot of fun. Her wedding was this past October, and it was my first time in a wedding party. I was her Maid of Honor and I have to say it was pretty awesome going through it all with her the year before my own wedding.
I had so much fun planning her shower and helping her with DIY projects, that I thought I’d share them with the hive! So hopefully you’ll enjoy some projects from her shower and wedding and it won’t be too confusing when trying to follow along with the Starfish wedding!
BIL Starfish bought Sister Starfish’s engagement ring from Tiffany’s and randomly surprises her with jewelry from there for no reason. Lucky girl! So I it was fitting that her wedding shower was inspired by the one and only Holly Golightly. That’s right… her bridesmaids and I pulled off a Breakfast at Tiffany’s theme.
It all started with a cake…
Sister Starfish found a cake in the shape of a Tiffany’s box. She was the most laid back bride and told us to do whatever, in every aspect of the wedding, but she told me she really wanted this at the shower. As soon as I saw it, a light bulb went off in my head.

Martha Stewart and the Today show threw a Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed wedding and featured it in the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. I went through my magazine stack and found it. I showed it to Starfish Mom, Sister Starfish’s bridesmaids and ideas started spinning. Don’t you just love Martha?
Inspiration from Martha:

So with a little inspiration from the Cake Girls, the bride, and Martha, a theme was in the works.
Sister Starfish knew nothing about the shower, but I told her it was going to be amazing, so she actually hired her wedding photographers to come to the shower to take some pictures! This worked out perfectly because we planned to set up a photo booth area with props from the movie (another Martha idea). I picked up items at bulk jewelry places in Manhattan, NY. They are great for cheap jewelry, especially the places near Macy’s!
Here are some examples from the photo area at the Martha Stewart Tiffany’s wedding:

How fun are these shots?

We had a theme, and we had a plan. I can’t wait to show you how it all turned out, but you’ll have to sit through a few DIY posts before getting to the final event!
What has been your favorite shower theme?
