Bridesmaid Inspiration

March 31st, 2010 @ 2:56 pm by Mrs. Starfish

Has anyone ever noticed that there are a ton of wedding magazines and wedding websites, but there really aren’t any sites that are great references for bridesmaids? Most sites have bridesmaid sections, but I’d like more.

Being a first time bridesmaid in Sister Starfish’s wedding last October, I had a really hard time finding resources. I ended up using typical wedding resources, but there just isn’t much geared specifically towards bridesmaids. It would be awesome to have a place to go and chat with other bridesmaids and have shower and bachelorette ideas and inspiration. I wonder if something like that would actually work? Do you think a lot of bridesmaids actually put a lot of time and effort into researching ideas for these events? Have you done a lot of research when you were a bridesmaid?

Well, while I think of that, I thought I’d share some of the places I went to for bridesmaid inspiration:

1. Hostess with the Mostess:

I love this site because it gives ideas for tabletop, decor, photo inspiration, you can also search for recipes. The wntertaining section gives hostessing tips, such as how to set a table. It’s great not just for bridal shower inspiration, but also for baby showers, holiday parties and more.

The photo below is from the “Something Blue” Bridal Shower;

2. Weddingbee: I pretty much go to Weddingbee for anything wedding related and that includes bridesmaid tips. I like going to the Wiki to look up shower games and ideas, or search “bridal shower” and see what I come up with. It’s fun to see showers the bees post because they always tend to be really creative.

I loved this one posted by Miss Duckling. The shower was a “perfect pair” theme.

I love all the shoe details.

If you search “Bridal Shower”, many articles and photos will come up, like the one below in the pink bridal shower gallery:

4. The ParTea Planner: This site is so fun for tea party inspiration. I love all the details, so it can also be inspiring for non-tea events, too.

Here is a party she did for a birthday:

Where do you go for bridesmaid inspiration, whether it be tips, bridal shower or bachelorette related?

Thanks for all the great resources! I’m totally searching for bridesmaid inspiration. They should come out with a bridesmaid magazine. ;)

theknot.com has a section of the site dedicated to bridesmaids where you can get help with shower and bachelorette activities among other things. I know my sister (the MOH) has put a lot of effort into planning events for my wedding, so you aren’t alone!

I wish there was a Bridesmaidbee! I have been a bridesmaid 5 times (hence the username) and have always wished for better resources! I mostly used wedding websites and my own personal knowledge/experience to get ideas and inspiration. I also got theme ideas from looking at different kinds of invitations online. Usually I try to go a with themes that really reflect the bride and/or the time of year. For one friend, we through a totally 80s Bachelorette party and everyone got really into the costumes. I’ve also used a tacky Christmas theme (holiday wedding), an Asian theme (the couple met working at an Asian restaurant), and a cowgirl barbecue theme.

HWTM is on the top of my list. This is my first time being on the other side…..tons of info for brides, but as my sister’s matron of honor, I’ve had to be creative, but even planning my 2nd daughter’s 1st birthday has given me a lot of ideas for the bridal shower. There isn’t too much out there in terms of bridal shower budget, checklists, etc. Thanks for the resources links!

@Miss Taco: I know really! There are way more bridesmaids than there are brides at any given time!
@Brit: Thanks! :)
@SabrinaR424: I had no idea, I wish I had known last year!

I love WeddingBee, which turned me on to Amy Atlas events for beautiful candy buffet inspiration.

Miss Starfish, how dare you post the last images! LOL They are SO beautiful and now I want to redesign my whole idea. The falling candle votives and tree line thing holding them are sooo perfect for a Shabby chic wedding!

Unfortunately, the ParTea planner doesn’t take e-mails assisting where to find things like that…

So does ANYONE know?!?!!?!? I’m drooling to death over here!!
