Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA
Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Engagement Date: June 28, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception
About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
So, after you ladies gave me so many amazing tips here, I couldn’t NOT give you a quick update as our wedding rapidly approaches!
I tried so hard not to bite my nails, and I was successful for two whole weeks (that’s good for me)! But, during a stressful period last weekend (I lost my phone), I caved and bit them. I was so mad at myself afterward, and tried hard to resist the urge this week.
Yesterday, Cheeseburger Mom was getting a pedicure, and I came along to hang out with her. Between her and the people at the nail salon, they convinced me that my nails were not too short to get a manicure. I was embarrassed and skeptical, but I figured that it couldn’t hurt to let them try.
And WOW, the results are pretty wonderful.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Sales
Engagement Date: October 8, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: The Atlantic Beach Club
About Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
While on my quest for the dress, I felt like I was struggling. I couldn’t find any dresses that really stood out to me. I kept coming back to dresses with four characteristics, although never on the same dress: cap sleeves, lacey, flowy, or flower details.
After a year of looking, I felt like I was never going to find “THE DRESS”. Then, I went to a Wedding Show in Boston and came across Madeleine’s Daughter, a boutique in Portsmouth, NH. It was a little out of the way for me, but they had this dress:

I was instantly in love.

Mrs. Taco, San Francisco
Age and Occupation: 29, writer/editor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editor
Engagement Date: May 13, 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans Building
About Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.
Burgundy. Color me burgundy.
I run straight for everything roughly this color, especially wine, Manhattan cocktails, 2 sweaters, 1 hoodie, 2 t-shirts, and 1 snow jacket (off the top of my head). It was an easy pick for me, but I know the decision has triggered cold sweats and anxiety for some.
My florist said burgundy goes with everything and nothing at the same time, so running with something and owning it is the best way to go. (I like where this is going.) Sage green and burgundy go surprisingly well together, according to my own two eyes and every designer I consulted with to make sure. And the Green Room being, well, light green in hue, it’s lucky it does. Green will make an appearance our BM bouquets, and I’m really excited to see Amy’s designs.
I mulled over silver as a secondary color, then decided it would look too much like a sporting event. Not to mention that, marrying into a Texas Longhorn family, an event covered in the Texas A&M palette wasn’t going to fly!
Wedding colors seem to be a combination of both your favorite color and your favorite color to look at, which is not necessarily the same thing.

Mrs. Lace, Pasadena, CA
Age and Occupation: 29, Elementary school teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Engineer
Engagement Date: September 6, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Orange County Performing Arts Center
About Me: Born and raised in Southern California, my fiance and I are marrying in Orange County. We're planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist. I am an elementary school teacher by day and a wedding planner by night. I love reading, blogging, scrapbooking, trying out new DIY projects, buying awesome finds at incredible deals and spending time with friends and family. Trying new restaurants, traveling and shopping also top my hobby list. I'm anxious to share my wedding ideas and planning with the hive!
I know that I get stressed too easily. But, sometimes, it’s embarrassing how much I think and worry about wedding related stuff. My current worry?
RSVPs. We sent out a really early first round because our venue/caterer is on the pricey side so we need to stick as closely to 225 as we possibly can. An extra table of 10 people is $1,600. We sent out 247 invitations. Our first RSVP deadline is March 28.
Of the 247
- 113 have said yes
- 21 have said no
That puts us at 226, which makes me very happy.
However, we also can’t go under 225 since that’s our guaranteed minimum. So if we receive 113 more yes RSVPs, we’re cool. If we don’t, we get to go into our second round of invites. However, what if these 113 people don’t respond on time? I’d like to give our second round of invites ample time to respond as well.

Mrs. Hamster, New York City
Age and Occupation: 28, Finance Gal
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Finance Guy
Engagement Date: March 9, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: The Pierre Hotel
About Me: I'm an original Jersey girl living it up in the big NYC! I love baking for others, hosting brunches, and exploring NYC with my mans. Besides Mr. Hamster (of course), I'm attracted to shiny things, bold colors, snacks, matching and coordination, pork and duck fats, miniature versions of things, corny jokes and puns. We are planning a swanky Spring wedding in the heart of NYC, followed by a second reception in Singapore. From one city that never sleeps to another - I can't imagine a more exciting ride!
As my to-do list of fun things gets shorter and my “Get back to this later” list gets longer (book transportation? Bleh!), I hold on to those precious few tasks that still are still entertaining - namely shopping, accessories, and shopping for accessories. Today’s shopping task? Hair accessories.
As a reminder, my hair will look something like this:

At my hair and makeup trial last year.
… and I’m going for a ’40s vintage/glam look. With that in mind, I turned to good old Etsy, where I purchased these vintage rhinestone hair combs from seller eabdesigns:

Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas
Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader
Engagement Date: March 19, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2010
Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas
About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
So, I was sitting at work and 9:30 rolled around. 9:30 is the normal time that my stomach is grumbling and ready for my mid-morning snack. I always have an apple or some sort of fruit on hand in preparation for this time. However, today 9:30 passed without that grumbly tummy. Then, 12:30 came, still no grumbly tummy. What the heck is going on?? Oh, right, nerves and butterflies.

I know they always say that you start to drop weight as you get closer and closer to your wedding. Although this has not been the case for me, I can see now why this happens to people. I’m so freaking anxious right now that I can’t even eat! I know this will pass, and maybe today was a particularly stressful day for me, but wow, the butterflies are constant!

Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego
Age and Occupation: 28, Professor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor
Engagement Date: December 20, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!

I love all the cousins Hot Wings dearly! I DO! Cousins Hot Wings, I Love you! Your weddings taught me a valuable lesson.

Mrs. Oyster, Dallas
Age and Occupation: 30, Music Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 46, Art Teacher
Engagement Date: January 9, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: The Tower Club
About Me: I'm a Texa-Californian with a penchant for sparkly things and a tendency to think a lot. I've been known to sing random songs or dance when there is no music on. My fiance and I love world culture, we love to travel, and we have an incredibly eclectic taste in music. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate our marriage with our family & closest friends. We're planning an “urban black-tie” wedding and hope to incorporate our personalities and some of our own interests. We look forward to a life of love, laughter, good music, beautiful art, and to creating our home together with our four (!) cats.
Wow, I’m a bee! I’m so excited to join the Weddingbee community. I first heard about Weddingbee about four years ago, when I was Googling for something else. I thought, ‘Oh, that’s nice,’ and that was it.
A few years later, after I’d met Mr. Oyster and become engaged, I thought, ‘Wasn’t there something about a bee…?’ And here I am! What did brides do before the internet? I’m 14 months into our 18 month engagement, and I can’t imagine planning a wedding without the hive!
So, who are these Oyster people?

Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle
Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer
Engagement Date: September 2, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios
About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
I found my dress without trying on a single wedding dress—crazy, I know. So you might imagine my haste on Monday when my dress arrived in the mail. I tore into the package and I quickly tried it on, but I felt a little guilty. I have a confession; by the time my dress arrived I was no longer a wedding dress virgin. *gasp*

I cheated on my dress—it’s true.

Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA
Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot
Engagement Date: February 21, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery
About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
Throughout this crazy wedding planning process, I’ve found that staying organized has been very important to maintaining my peace of mind. I’m not sure what other brides do, but here is how I’ve organized my wedding inspiration and information:
The binder:

This wedding planner binder was recommended to me by BM Lauren, who used the same binder when she was planning her wedding. I recalled her raving about it, so I called her the day I got engaged and rushed to the nearest Barnes & Noble to buy it. I’m a dork, I know. It comes with lots of checklists and questions to ask vendors. It’s pretty helpful, but I think you can find most of that stuff online. I’d say the most helpful thing is the vendor questions, and it also has a special card pouch where you can store business cards. The binder has become a repository for all the pages I’ve ripped out of magazines:

Mrs. Turtle, Central California
Age and Occupation: 21, Art Student/Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, English Student
Engagement Date: August 16, 2008
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Mr. Turtle's Grandparents' backyard, Arroyo Grande, CA
About Me: I am a California girl who loves the beach and the mountains, but is quite satisfied living right in the middle where I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I am happiest when traveling to faraway places, wandering through museums, watching old movies, or baking up a storm. Mr. Turtle and I are high school sweethearts and fellow book nerds who both drive Mini Coopers and are most likely to be found browsing in antique stores. We're having so much fun planning our European garden wedding with a vintage twist and can't wait to share more of life's adventures together!
I am totally obsessed with French style! This is definitely something I plan on incorporating into our wedding. I love studying eighteenth century French history, Rococo art and architecture, and nineteenth century Impressionist painting. As early as elementary school, I was decorating my room with pictures of the Eiffel Tower. I love hearing people speak French. I love pretending like I know how to speak French. If I could be anywhere in the world, some of my top choices would be wandering through the Louvre, sitting in a Parisian cafe, visiting Versailles, or finding treasures at a Parisian flea market. What I admire about French style is that it is ornate, airy, and pretty, yet aged and antique enough to not be too perfect.
If I could live inside a movie, it would definitely be Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. The set, the costumes, the music, the colors; it’s like a dream world. I could watch it over and over again and never cease to be mesmerized. Okay, okay, I know… you get the idea!

About Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
When we first started registering, for me, no house/no apartment=no fun registering. We couldn’t pick out anything with colors, because we have no idea what our future home will look like.
The one thing we knew we wanted for sure was a nautical bedroom. When we first went to block hotels, I fell in love with the hotel’s bedding and room decor. I pretty much want to steal their whole design. I love the two toned navy and white walls, and I love the simple bedding.
Here are a couple shots of one of the rooms at the Newport Hotel and Suites:
