Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA
Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot
Engagement Date: February 21, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery
About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
Mr. Jelly and I browsed wedding rings today at a cute little mom-and-pop jewelry store in North Berkeley. They had a lot of unique and interesting designs and got me to start thinking outside the box on what kind of wedding band I might want. Until now, I was pretty set on just going with a classic channel set diamond band to go with my plain white gold solitaire. I was thinking something along these lines:

Mrs. Starfish, Boston/Newport
Age and Occupation: 25, Operations Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Sales
Engagement Date: October 8, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: The Atlantic Beach Club
About Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.

The only way I can describe the feeling I get when I receive my Martha Stewart Weddings subscription in the mail every few months is to compare it to Christmas morning as a child. It is pure excitement, anticipation and joy all rolled into one! I always vow to wait to read it while on my morning commute, but as soon as I get the magazine in my hands, I make a cup of tea and head to the couch for pure blissful reading.
I devour it in one sitting, reading every last word, admiring every single picture. Mr. Starfish usually comes home during this sacred event and has learned not to bother trying to hold a decent conversation. Martha wins every time.

Mrs. Paisley, Orange County, CA
Age and Occupation: 25, Journalist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Spanish Professor
Engagement Date: September 2008
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Family Lake House
About Me: From my earliest days I attracted attention, as much for my intelligence as for beauty. I display an originality, a perspicacity, a certain je ne sais quoi that sets me apart. I posses a mysterious authority which compels people to do my bidding. I am a regal blonde with classic features and the daintiness of Dresden porcelain. I am poised, soft-spoken, and well educated... Okay, now that enough eyebrows have sufficiently shot through the roof, everybody can relax---I kid! I'm just a sarcastic NorCal-turned-SoCal girl who loves outdoor activities, books, letterpress printing and of course, Professor Paisley.
First off, I want to say a heartfelt thanks to you ladies for your support during this difficult, difficult time of Professor Paisley’s cold feet.
I nearly didn’t blog about it. In fact, I was so worried about receiving negative comments, or having people advise me to run for the hills, that I pulled the post off of my personal blog before it went up on Weddingbee. But it was already scheduled to go up, and go up, it did! I’m actually really glad it did go up, because I know some of you read it and related to it. And it personally helped me feel better that I’m not the only one who’s gone through an emotional break up of an engagement right before her wedding!
What I didn’t tell you was, my feet were cold, too!
… When we went snowboarding:

Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA
About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.

This is one question I don’t want our guests to have to ask at our wedding reception! But, of course, they really won’t have to; the restrooms are located inside, past the bar and dancing area, but before you get to the fauxtobooth area. However, the existing signs on the doors are kind of blah, along the lines of these:

Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis
Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot
Engagement Date: February 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington
About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
Mr. Argyle and I really hope that both our best man and maid of honor give a toast at our reception. Oddly enough, it was them who introduced me to Mr. Argyle three years ago. I have a feeling we’ll hear about how we owe them (and we do). But I also have a feeling there will be laughter and tears.
So, in true bride spirit, I started searching for toast ideas myself. I know MOH Argyle would probably ask what she would want me to say (I love that girl). And, during my search I found this cute one from Weddingbee PRO. Although it is a poem, I think it’s adorable to use, especially since we can relate – Mr. Argyle and I have two dogs. It seems a little long for a toast, but you could use excerpts instead of the entire thing.
Falling in Love is Like Owning a Dog, by Taylor Mali
First of all, it’s a big responsibility,
especially in a city like New York [note - this could be changed to fit the city you live in]
So think long and hard before deciding on love.
On the other hand, love gives you a sense of security:
when you’re walking down the street late at night
and you have a leash on love
ain’t no one going to mess with you.
Because crooks and muggers think love is unpredictable.
Who knows what love could do in its own defense?

Mrs. Lamb, Norfolk
Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student
Engagement Date: January 2009
Wedding Date: January 2010
Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House
About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
Before we determined that Lambster needed a slow song if we were going to rock the reception, I had in my head that we do an elaborate routine to the Police’s Everything Little Thing She Does is Magic or to KC and the Sunshine Band’s Boogie Shoes. The former involved several props and ended with a flash bang while the latter featured ridonkulous tap dancing solos during the instrumental portion. When you stop laughing, I’ll tell you about all of the dancing that did actually take place after we opened the dance floor with the rumba.
When I say that EVERYONE danced, I pretty much mean that every single person took to the dance floor at least once over the course of the evening. Even our friend Wendy was out there! She decided to “announce” that she was with child when she went through our receiving line. When I say she announced, I mean that she just walked up to us, we pointed and screamed, she nodded and said it was true, then I did the whole dreaded preggo tummy grab and rub because she was just that cute. I was so excited and happy. I apologized as profusely as I could in the 20 second greeting as they walked down to meet my parents, but woohoo! Good news. So yeah, she was accosted by me and still rocked the dance floor.

Mrs. Pug, New York City/Half Moon Bay, CA
Age and Occupation: 33, Lawyer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, ditto
Engagement Date: July 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay
About Me: The Mr. and I are two 30-somethings who enjoy tasty sweets of all kinds, our neighborhood wine store, and cuddling with our pug. NYC is where we live and the city we love, but we’re doing the deed out in Northern California. We are trying to keep the affair small, intimate, and manageable. Our motto is: the less people, the better! (I’m kidding.)
I’ve shown you our invites and some of the behind the scenes creation, but let me show you the underbelly. In what is going to sound an awful like Miss Hamster’s posts, here is some of frustration and fatigue my sister and I experienced producing those bad, bad boys.
Months and months ago, we had warmed up our Gocco skills with the save the dates. That process had gone very well, so I figured sure, there might be some mess-ups, but otherwise we were PROS, baby, Gocco pros. We’d sail through these artichoke invitations like butta.
Hoo boy, did I have another thing coming, and coming up big. Now, I still love the Gocco and I’m very proud of what we accomplished, but ah mah GAH I was about to rip out my hair with the various problems we encountered.
Here’s a sampling of the issues (for those who are interested in Gocco):
Problem #1: Splotchy edges

Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: June 27, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu
About Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
As many a procrastinator can confirm, the pile of half-finished projects can grow rather quickly. Though spending time on a project already fully formulated in my mind held zero excitement, I trenched through and finished up our “guestbook“.
First, some supplies. White cardstock and some pretty red yuzen paper will do for a backing.

Mrs. Hot Dog, Cheyenne, WY
Age and Occupation: 23, Health Information Specialist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Personal Trainer
Engagement Date: March 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Family Ranch outside Glenrock, WY
About Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
Because I’ve been bangin’ out projects like they’re going out of style! I finished all the bridesmaids’ gifts, made myself a hair flower, learned how to make a sewing/fabric-folding flower, AANNNNDDDD made my ring bearer pillow!
I posted about my inspiration for it already and today, it came to fruition!! Wanna know how?? OK, well I started taking pictures part of the way through, so you’ll have to visualize the first few steps.
- First, pick your fabric. I used a raw canvas material. Since it was pretty thin, I lined it with some iron-on fabric that’s supposed to make it sturdier (worked great!).
- Cut out the size and shape you want. I made mine 6 inches square. So I cut out 2 - 8 inch sections, to account for sewing the seams.
- Place them so they’re facing together (wrong sides OUT) and sew them together along 3 sides. Once you get to the 4th side, sew in towards the center, leaving about a 3 inch opening.
- Now, turn it inside out, and push out the corners. It should look like a pillow, without stuffing. So, stuff it!
- After you’ve filled it, use a simple whip stitch to close the hole.

Mrs. Veggie, Raglan, New Zealand/Scranton, PA
Age and Occupation: 27, Director of Small Non-Profit
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 42, PhD Student & Farmer
Engagement Date: June 13, 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Indian Head Camp, Honesdale Pennsylvania
About Me: I am a tree-huggin' farmer turned enthusiastic wedding-planner. I live in a house truck and wear flip-flops more often than shoes. In my old life I was a high school Spanish teacher in love with a crazy guy who lived off-the grid on a farm in New Hampshire. But, we decided to mix things up a bit, quit our jobs and move to New Zealand. My southern hemisphere lifestyle involves growing veggies, teaching, running our small non-profit, and surfing. I love laughing, singing, playing, and the inspirational Mr. Veggie (of course!). For our wedding, I am committed to throwing a killer party that celebrates our values without breaking the bank. Look forward to an eco-thrifty summer-campy weekend-long extravaganza.
Sometimes there are moments in my life that seem too perfect to be real.
I was having a stressful week and was about to leave for a three month trip to the States. Mr. Veggie suggested that we take a bike ride to one of our favorite spots, Te Toto Gorge. We laid down on the grass and looked up at the clouds. He sat up in the sun overlooking the Tasman Sea, handed me the keychain ring of our bike lock and asked me to be his wife.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Administrative Assistant, Ocean Conservation Non Profit
Engagement Date: July 26, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: Morningside Inn
About Me: I'm a nerdy Northwestern girl who always knew she was meant to live in the East, harboring a deep love of ice cream, underwear, Diet Coke with a splash of Coca-Cola, pashminas, scrapbooking, stationery, wall calendars and books written for preteens. I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
Don’t we all?
The few times I’ve been to New York City, I made sure to get a hot dog from a cart on the street. I love food that comes from a mobile location. It always tastes better.
That’s why I love this new trend of hiring food trucks to cater weddings. It’s brilliant, I tell you, brilliant. If I could do it all over again, I’d hire a food truck. (Or I’d go for a whole bunch of fun finger foods. It’s a toss up.) Wouldn’t you go for a food truck if you could have one of these trucks at your wedding?

Empanadas? Hell yeah! Source

Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont
Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer
Engagement Date: August 2008
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception
About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
The search for the perfect, low heeled shoe has been a long and hard one. Nevertheless, I am happy to announce that I (may) have achieved the impossible! I managed to find a beautiful, stylish, comfortable shoe with a heel that is under 3 inches!

Meet Eddy, by Badgley Mischka. At first, I wasn’t sure if she and I would be a perfect fit (pun intended). I liked the broach, and the silk overlay thing. But I wasn’t so sure about the ankle strap, and I still missed the glamour that only a 4 inch heel could provide.

Engagement Date: June 22, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009
Venue: Ceremony at the Lanikuhonua Phase II private estate, reception at a historic hotel in Waikiki
About Me: I'm an East Coast gal with intense road rage and an addiction to romantic comedies, fast food, gadgets, Korean BBQ, and my wiener dog George aka Georgia May. I carry mustard packets in my purse and I love perusing the aisles at discount stores. A self proclaimed shopaholic, I impulsively buy electronics, software, and craft tools; none of which I know how to use. I'm excited to dust
these babies off and immerse myself in DIY projects galore in
preparation for our DW in paradise!
Victory!!! It was official. ‘Til death do us part. Lucky him. Heehee. Our ceremony had lasted 30 or so minutes leaving just over an hour for wedding portraits at Lanikuhonua. After moving from one embrace to another, we gradually made our way to the portraits area.

Gathering the masses was surprisingly easy. Taking cues from the ridiculously talented Mrs. Eggplant (xoxo thank you!), we added a page in our program requesting that people stick around for formal portraits after the ceremony. And they did. Everyone waited patiently, chit-chatting away, until my “surround sound” sister announced their turn. It worked like a charm. Amazing, I tell you! Take note of this!
