Remember my choice in this post and then my second-guessing and new choice in this post? Well, Amy and I went down to David’s Bridal to end this tug-o-war once and for all!
It went great! I had her try on the trumpet style and the short-ruched dress, just to see how each fit. We didn’t even take a picture of the first one because it was just that bad! Not that it made Amy look bad, it just wasn’t a good look and TOTALLY did not go with our aesthetic…
The second dress, however, was a total knock out! She looked AND felt amazing in it! And with the boots? OOOHHHHH MAH GAWD! Gorgeous!
Wanna know what color I chose?
It’s the color I was leanest furthest from, but it ended up looking incredible with the brown boots, and it’s totally flattering on most skin tones! Can you guess?? If you said Candy Pink, you were right!
Ready for the pics? (FYI, they didn’t have the ruched dress in the pink, so we found another that was the right color and same material to show you!)
If you’re anywhere near the ’Burgh, we’ll be having brunch at Harris Grill this Sunday, March 7th, at 11:30AM.

If you’re also super-excited and intend to show up, please respond here or send redherring a PM. While there are no promises, there just might be name tags. Maybe.
As for the nitty gritty details - It’s impossible to make reservations at Harris Grill. So, redherring will be getting there nice and early to hopefully get us a table upstairs. When you arrive, just ask the hostess where the Weddingbee Meet Up table is and prepare to enjoy some yummy frozen mimosas!

When I first got engaged, Mr. Argyle and I both decided that we wanted to ask a friend or family member to officiate our ceremony. From the start, I had my heart set on the Jewel Box in Forest Park for our ceremony (which is where our ceremony will take place), so it was a matter of finding someone to officiate. We had toyed around with the idea of hiring someone, but after some thought, we just weren’t in to it.
So, we forgot about it for a while, until it came up in discussion a few months ago. I suggested that we ask my mom’s sister, my Aunt Kat, to officiate our wedding. It would involve her getting ordained. And, before asking her, I searched around the internet about getting ordained online, just to see how easy it would be (and in the process, got ordained myself).
The question then, became when we would ask her. I wasn’t game for asking her online or the phone (she lives in Albuquerque, NM), and was hoping she would be in town soon.

So, I’ve been good about keeping up with my JM workouts, but like many other brides, I’m always looking for anything else that will help me lose weight and look my best on my wedding day. It’s even better if this magic thing that helps me lose weight does not require a lot of effort or changes to my routine because, well, I’m lazy and like my routine. Recently, I learned about Yerba Mate tea.

The tea is fair trade and contains 24 vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids, lots of antioxidants and naturally occurring caffeine. Their website says that the tea:

How did I find Weddingbee?
Way before Mr. Hammy proposed, one of my married friends mentioned this site about weddings and insects and bloggers named after vegetables - I was so confused. I promptly forgot all about that conversation; I was just not in that mindset. Fast forward to 3 months later - I was newly engaged, really excited, and absolutely clueless about where to begin. I asked my friend about the “insect wedding site” and this time I was all ears.
This site has been invaluable in learning about new ideas (I had never heard of a candy buffet, and was only vaguely familiar with save-the-dates) and finding tons of inspiration. DIYing your own invitations? I hadn’t even considered that. I was mispronouncing Gocco up until last week for goodness’ sake. Bad bee, I know. But here it was, DIY paper crafts up the wazoo, bees creating their own flower arrangements, or even making their own dresses. What was this wonderful world I had stumbled upon?

Mr. Hot Wings has been in several weddings and didn’t like the idea of renting a tux that other people have worn before him and would need to be returned after the wedding. Instead, he really wanted to find suits that would cost approximately the same as renting a tux. He polled the Wingmen (I think I like that better than Groomsmen) and they all agreed. So, off we went.
Men’s Warehouse was our first stop. When we shopped online, Mr. Hot Wings liked this suit from Men’s Warehouse. With their buy 1 get 1 deal, it seemed worth the trip into the store.

Of course, this suit wasn’t available at the store. That would be too easy. But they did have one option that we liked with a tie option that matched our color scheme.

It’s officially March, and we all know what that means—check in time! We’ve now got exactly 7 months until the wedding, and let me just say, this month was pretty much a fail month. That’s right, I’ve been one slackin’ ass bee.
I’m a bit disappointed in myself that I slacked off so badly this month, but—although I don’t like to make excuses—it has been an exceptionally difficult month for Mr. Rainbow and me. Let me explain.
In the past, I’ve never had issues with my weight. It always stayed pretty much the same, and if I wanted to lose a few pounds, it was never too difficult for me. But a little while ago, I started gaining weight, quickly and seemingly uncontrollably, and the worst part was that no matter what I did, it just wouldn’t come off. I know my body, and I know how it works, so I had a funny feeling that there was something medically wrong with me, but no one would believe me, and I had no health insurance to get my suspicions confirmed.
That was until this month.
I’m so excited to be the newest bee! I first found Weddingbee the month of our engagement, and I haven’t missed a post since. After being inspired by all of the bees, I decided to start my own blog. I have so much fun writing about my experiences, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
I was super excited when the sea creature generation icons arrived in my inbox:

As my posts go on, it will become pretty obvious why I chose Miss Starfish. Our wedding is nautical inspired and somehow we decided to include starfish accents. I think it happened when we chose a website design, and the starfish theme went best. So from that point on we ended up with starfish as a big part of our wedding day.

I already bought my wedding dress. I went to six shops within two weeks and found a dress I really loved. I didn’t have that “a-ha moment” where I just knew I had found the dress of my dreams. I seldom shop like that. I usually find several things I love and then have to choose between them and I did the same when it came to my wedding dress. I was on a pretty strict budget. While several of my friends were spending up to $5,000 on their dresses, I had budgeted $1,000… including alterations. You can imagine how that really limited my choices. But, I’m a deal finder and I just knew I could find a dress I loved within my budget.
At the end of those two weeks, I found the dress (sorry kids, you’re going to have to wait for the wedding photos before I post my dress on the Internet for the world to see). It came in under budget, too.
However, since then, I’ve been watching Say Yes to the Dress, reading blogs and seeing gorgeous dresses. I’m not unhappy about my dress. Quite the opposite, in fact. I can’t wait to wear it. BUT, I want another dress. Can’t I wear two? Heck, three? People change during the reception right? I know, it’s generally into something completely different like a shorter, more comfortable dress or a traditional cultural dress (which I’m totally not doing. I spent the most money I’ve ever spent on one item of clothing. I’m not about to wear it for only one hour of my life).
I’m just being greedy, but indulge me. If I could wear a second dress, these would be a few of my options.

What do you do when the one you love with all your heart is having doubts about the whole concept of marriage, and there’s only 4 months left until the wedding? What if they break the engagement, take it back, break it again, take it back, and break it again?
At what point do you say enough’s enough? I can’t bear to say it, so I do what true love always does: I extend the olive branch and tell him my love won’t falter. I’ll try to be patient for him to make up his mind, and try not to let my heart break too terribly in the meantime.
How does a bride, a bride who’s poured her heart and soul into a relationship, making a home, supporting her fiance as best she can, and has been planning a wonderful wedding, deal with such heartbreak and uncertainty? Many calls to mom, to dad and her best girlfriends. When he can’t pull himself out of his depression, she reaches out to his family.
Just olive branches and love, that’s all I can offer. I cling to the hope I get an olive branch back.
Another thing that helps this bride, is music.

Not with mine. I’m still having trouble nailing down the bridesmaids’ dresses!
After that last dress post, I kept looking at the satin fabric and realized that I really didn’t like the way it would look with the boots. Something about it just didn’t feel right… so I found another dress at DB, in cotton sateen. It comes in several colors, three of which I LOVE. (See? I can’t even decide on a color!)
Here are the colors, in the cotton sateen fabric swatch:

It’s March.
Twenty months after we became engaged, I find myself at the beginning of the month that always seemed sooo far away. And now it’s March. 2010 (the year that also seemed sooo far away).
I know that in reality, my to-do list is manageable. I believe there is an inevitable craziness that occurs the last few weeks preceding the wedding. But I know what we have to do and it’s all, well, doable.
Right?
Regardless of my attempt to have “perspective”, the flutters of anxiety have begun and persist (and it only *just* became March). I just mentioned that I have my to-do list, and that with the immense help of my sister and others, we will get things done—so why the flutters?
Because.
