Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington
About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
I wanted to tell you all how badly I need this.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Computer Technician
Engagement Date: April 18, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: Victorian Gardens of Two Sisters
About Me: I’m a 24-year-old Californian bride-to-be who found love in the most unlikely of places - an online video game! I’m a farmer’s daughter living in rural Central California, but will always have a special place in my heart for the city. My future husband is a 27-year-old extraordinarily tall, exceptionally cute, and undoubtedly Canadian boy who was able to sweep me off my feet and take me for his bride. I love color, folksy songs that make me smile, interior design, kettle corn, my one-year-old puppy, Juno, and my fiance, of course! We’re planning a DIY garden wedding with a laundry-list of projects, all while dealing with the bureaucracy that is American Immigration!
No, I don’t mean Mr. Dachshund. Though he certainly is the guy for me, I’m not talking about that “One”. This “One” is The One that I never thought I’d find! The One that took my breath away, that I had to have. This One is my dress.

While I personally wouldn’t mind Mr. D seeing the dress before the wedding, he’s pretty adamant about keeping it secret. So, if by chance you’re reading, don’t go any further!

I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
Remember when I was head over heels in love with pintuck linens? And, after receiving a price quote for rentals, I was slightly brokenhearted.
Well, I am brokenhearted no longer!
When I found out that I would have to shell out $35 a piece for the linens, the little gears in my head began to turn… surely there would be a more inexpensive option… could I buy some? Could I make them myself? I took a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics to investigate their fabric selection.

Mrs. Guinea Pig, Baltimore, MD
Age and Occupation: 26, PhD student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Operations Director at a non-profit
Engagement Date: December 25, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club
About Me: I'm a tomboy science nerd whose girly side has made a startling appearance thanks to wedding planning! I love to bake, knit and sew but I also ride a motorcycle (that Mr. Guinea Pig wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole). We live with our three crazy cats and love to read, travel, watch movies, and do home improvement projects together! My parents/family are Canadian but I'm definitely American, although I've lived in 5 different countries, 6 different states, and speak Russian fluently. Mr. GP and I met online (did I mention I'm a scientist?) and had a whirlwind romance - now we can't wait to get married & celebrate with all our friends and family in a blue and yellow waterfront affair!
Actually, it’s our guests who need the favor. Okay they don’t really need a favor, but it’s a nice gesture, right? Plus I do need a favor—I need you to help us make a decision!
Way back when, I thought about doing cookie jars (á la Bakerella) as favors, but alas, most of you confirmed they were too expensive in their original incarnation. Although there were lots of great suggestions for how to scale them down, we decided if we were going to do favors, we’d rather have something our guests could actually eat right away. Some people might never bake the cookies in a jar, and not just that, but for our out-of-town guests, who wants to carry a heavy glass jar of cookie mix in their suitcase?!
After not thinking about favors at all for several months (if you ignore a problem it goes away, right?), we got some great news - a family friend of Mr. Guinea Pig’s wanted to help us out with our favors and make them for us! {Insert choir singing hallelujah} GP friend R went totally over the top in giving us wonderful options (for which we are so very, very grateful), and even suggested we do a mix of things!

(from L to R: cookies, malt balls, chocolate covered raisins, mini-champagne, cinnamon gummy hearts, and jelly beans!)
The first thing we (sadly) ruled out?

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Personal Trainer/Business Owner/Physical Therapy Assistant
Engagement Date: January 1, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: The Narragansett Towers
About Me: A semi-professional bookworm, if I could be a literary character I’d be a cross between Jo March and Jane Eyre, only better accessorized and much lazier. My hobbies include sleeping in, seasonal brews, running, Trader Joe’s, and watching Unwrapped and Good Eats with Mr. Potato Chips. I harbor an irrational fear of tulle, crafts, things that are fussy, and overuse of the phrase "Your Special Day". After a year or seven together, down the aisle we go, slouching toward adulthood and planning a Rhodie party with equal parts whimsy, cheer, and pizza.
Job Title: Decision Engineer
Job Type: Part-Time/Temporary

Responsibilities:
Fielding and answering wedding-related questions and making decisions including but not limited to:
- How should the groomsmen and bridesmaids be matched to walk down the aisle together?

Mrs. Hot Dog, Cheyenne, WY
Age and Occupation: 23, Health Information Specialist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Personal Trainer
Engagement Date: March 2009
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Family Ranch outside Glenrock, WY
About Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
The wonderful Miss Lamb and I have at least one thing in common: we both heart long tables.
There is something so classic and homey about a long, banquet-style table. Despite its size, it just feels and looks so cozy!
Pictures like these make me weak in the knees. Apparently, they also make me rhyme.

Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas
Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader
Engagement Date: March 19, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2010
Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas
About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
OMG. So, this past weekend I had my bridal session. Can I just say, it was amazing!! For those of you on the fence about doing a bridal session, DO IT. You will not regret it. And if you don’t know what a bridal session is, it’s probably because you aren’t from the South where they are very popular. I like to think of it like a dress rehearsal for the wedding. It is the perfect opportunity to try out your dress, shoes, veil, bouquet, hair and makeup all together. And, it’s an opportunity to get tons of camera time to get comfortable with your photographer before your big day. Thankfully, my photographer is super personable, so I felt super comfortable with her. But the biggest benefit is the photographs!
My photographer had a great idea to do some at a frozen yogurt shop as a nod to my Weddingbee character. She scouted about 10 different fro yo shops and finally found the perfect one, J’Adore in Frisco. They were so awesome! The owner’s daughter is an avid Weddingbee reader and she opened up the store early so we could shoot there without lots of customers around. Thank you!! Are you ready to see them?

Since I’m pretty Type A, I love to be prepared for everything, with a timeline and all the details mapped out. I can’t help it – I just really hate to be unprepared.
And, with bridal parties, most of your bridesmaids will care about the details as much as you, so they appreciate your schedule and timeline. Your groomsmen, however, will not. You’ll hand them a lovely little schedule of the activities and where they need to be and when, and they think, ‘Great.’ And, the second you turn around, in the trash goes that lovely little schedule you worked so diligently on.
Heartbreaking right? Well, I found this great idea: a pocket schedule. You can give it to the guys to keep in their pockets. Heck, you can even give it to your bridesmaids and close family members who need to know what is going on during your wedding day. The guys can put them in their pants pockets or suit coats, and the ladies can drop them in their clutches.

Mrs. Ballet Flat, New Orleans
Age and Occupation: 24, Geographic Information Systems Analyst
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, IT Analyst
Engagement Date: March 16, 2008
Wedding Date: May, 2009
Blogging Since: September 25, 2008
Venue: St. Charles Borromeo Church/Jefferson-Orleans North
About Me: I absolutely love wedding planning, spending time with Mr. Ballet Flat, various crafts, watching football, baking, pop music, bargain hunting and ice cream. My idea of a great date night is dinner and clearance shopping with Mr. Ballet Flat! I currently live below sea level in the suburbs near New Orleans, where I make maps all day, everyday for my job. I'm slowly becoming more and more obsessed with anything New Orleans related for our wedding, and I can't wait for the big day!
One of the things I wanted to get done quickly was the formals. Two weeks before, I attended my aunt’s wedding and the photographer was SO slow. It took them an hour and a half to rally up everyone for the formals and get them done. I was so sad for her. She went straight from formals to first dance, then she had to cut the cake and throw the bouquet! After that, most of the time, people start leaving, so her wedding was over before she knew it!! I didn’t want this happening to me, so I asked our photographer if we could get this done quickly and painlessly (literally, because I still had my dang heels on).
Let me tell you, our photographer was awesome with these formals. I do wish some of the people would have smiled, though… it’s a wedding and people should be happy! You’re about to get unlimited booze, food and cake… what’s not to smile about?!? (You’ll see what I mean…)
So, here’s the GQ crew, as a few of my friends called them. My grandma kept joking that they looked like they were posing for a magazine! Haha!

Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego
Age and Occupation: 28, Professor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor
Engagement Date: December 20, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
I explained some of the Vietnamese wedding traditions my family is accustomed to here and here. Let’s talk about how they have changed and evolved to meet some our wants, needs, and desires.
(1) Combining families. Instead of going to both the bride’s and the groom’s family homes, we’ll be combining that and doing just one tea ceremony to represent both families. We will all get ready at the same place, then se up and come together for the event. Perhaps that will be a little less formal, then.
(2) Presentation of the Bride. I’m not sure what tradition dictates here, but I’ve grown up watching brides escorted by their dads. However, I want both my parents to have the spotlight with me separately. So I will have Mama Hot Wings escort me for the tea ceremony, and then Papa Hot Wings will escort me for the civil ceremony.

Age and Occupation: 24, Program Director, Education Non Profit
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Administrative Assistant, Ocean Conservation Non Profit
Engagement Date: July 26, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: Morningside Inn
About Me: I'm a nerdy Northwestern girl who always knew she was meant to live in the East, harboring a deep love of ice cream, underwear, Diet Coke with a splash of Coca-Cola, pashminas, scrapbooking, stationery, wall calendars and books written for preteens. I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
So, as I watched Ms. PChipz on BeeTV last night, I also indulged in the season finale of The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love. No lie.

source
In the episode, Vienna (a final contestant) met Jake’s (the Bachelor) parents. It was a high stress moment, as Jake’s family judged Vienna based on what they knew about her: that the girls in the house disliked her. As soon as they met her, they passed a judgment that a girl who was openly disliked by twenty women couldn’t be the right woman for Jake. As they got to know Vienna, however, they felt bad for judging her.
I’ll admit it; I’m not a Vienna fan. However, last night’s episode brought up a memory: the night I met Mr. Pencils’ parents. Let’s go back.
