I'm excited to dust these babies off and immerse myself in DIY projects galore in preparation for our DW in paradise!

Piglets in Paradise: We Did! : wedding pro pics recap. pictures Program04 program

After what seemed like an eternity, we stood there ready to wed and begin our lives together as husband and wife. With our hands locked together, my nerves slowly began to calm. Who would’ve thought that my bestie’s failed attempt to set us up in college would lead to happily ever after eight years later? Me! I love my Mr Piggy.

Mrs. Guinea Pig's Picture
Mrs. Guinea Pig, Baltimore, MD Age and Occupation: 26, PhD student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Operations Director at a non-profit Engagement Date: December 25, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club About Me: I'm a tomboy science nerd whose girly side has made a startling appearance thanks to wedding planning! I love to bake, knit and sew but I also ride a motorcycle (that Mr. Guinea Pig wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole). We live with our three crazy cats and love to read, travel, watch movies, and do home improvement projects together! My parents/family are Canadian but I'm definitely American, although I've lived in 5 different countries, 6 different states, and speak Russian fluently. Mr. GP and I met online (did I mention I'm a scientist?) and had a whirlwind romance - now we can't wait to get married & celebrate with all our friends and family in a blue and yellow waterfront affair!

… especially when it comes to origami hearts! See what I did there, see? (Pats self on back for particularly bad wordplay.)

I saw this post on Green Wedding Shoes this week and my brain pretty much started screaming you must make these. After all, weddings are all about the love (which = hearts, right?), and we already know I’ve signed myself up for way too many origami flowers! Amy of Eat Drink Chic used these origami hearts as invitations to her engagement party, which I think is an amazing idea.

I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!

Shrink-Rayed & Petrified!

March 1st, 2010 @ 8:07 am by Mrs. Sewing

Mr. Sew popped in the movie Fanboys, and went to town with the invitation cutting. Since we only have one paper cutter, and the movie had rendered the computer unusable for the next hour or so, I brought out the little wooden cake-topper people I had bought from Michaels a while back.

I started by sketching on them with pencil.
