Mrs. Dolphin's Picture
Mrs. Dolphin, Gainesville, FL Age and Occupation: 24, Graduate Architecture Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Interactive Interface Developer Engagement Date: February 14, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: Plantation Bay Country Club About Me: I’m currently a Graduate Student at the University of Florida studying Architecture. I enjoy playing Scrabble with my Fiance, rooting for the Florida Gators, making any drink that involves a blender, cleaning (yes... I’m crazy), design... GOOD design that is, the new Pepsi with natural sugar, taking pictures, discovering new places in the U.S., and obsessing over doing (and designing) everything myself for our upcoming wedding!
About Mrs. Dolphin

Last summer, about 11 months out from our wedding (I know… I was an early girl), I designed and ordered our guestbook through Blurb. I was a very busy bride getting together details for Mr. Dolphin and my nuptials this May (less then 2 months away, EEK!). And with that, I didn’t want to go with the typical wedding guestbook. You know, the one where everyone just signs their name, kind of like they are checking into your wedding, like it’s a hotel. So begins the story of our guest book.

I wanted something where guests could leave more then just their name. I hope for guests to leave messages for us. So, when looking through all the ways of making a non-typical guestbook I decided on using our engagement photos and compiling them into a Blurb book (ohhh another way to use them in our wedding… boy am I sneaky! After all the Starks did such an awesome job… how could I pass up using them?).

After downloading the Blurb software, it was super easy putting the book together. And when I say super easy… I mean SUPER easy. :)

Check out our guestbook’s awesomeness below: *all photography by yours truly

1 Part Blurb, 2 Parts Guestbook and a Whole Lotta Love : wedding gainesville 14 1

Oh… it hurts to have to blur our beautiful font on the front but alas… privacy. The back cover includes the date we started dating. It has been 7 wonderful years. :)

The pages were all made in Photoshop then placed as Jpegs in the Blurb software program. The book cost about $35. This included 40 pages, image wrap with premium paper, and I used a promo code that gave me $10 off (which covered shipping). There are promo codes for Blurb all over the Internet. I used code hewlettpackard10. I’m unsure if the code still works, but it is worth a try.

I’m so happy to finally be holding our cute little Blurb guestbook (it took about 2 weeks to get here!). It will not only be a guestbook for our friends and family to leave messages for us on our wedding day, but it will also double as an album of our super awesome engagement photos. Hooray!

Have you used Blurb for any of your wedding projects? What did you think of the quality? Would you use them again?

Thanks for sharing! This is exactly what I want to do for our guest book! We plan on using candid shots from our trips & adventures together while dating. I think it would be a lot of fun to show our kids some day! :)

I just really want to incorporate our e-pics… I already have the quilt-square idea, but that could just be extra… LOL the cogs are turning! I feel another change of mind coming on….

Love the Blurb book! We are going to make our wedding albums from them, probably also an engagement/dating album as well.

For our guestbook we ordered one of those huge plates that everyone writes on and then you bake it so everything hardens and you can use it as a platter/plate for functional purposes or as a decoration. That will be our ceremony guestbook. For our reception guestbook we found a beautiful hard-cover coffee-table picture book of Door County (where we are getting married) and we are going to have our guests write us messages on its pages.

That is such a cute idea! Awesome job with the layouts!

We might just have to do something like that once we get our engagement photos taken (we are a bit of the non-tradish engaged couple doing things all out of wack) and if I’d have the time to do 40 layouts.

That’s what we did for our guest book too! I even found a coupon online so the custom book was under $40! I thought it was a great way to incorporate our engagement photos and do a guest book since I wasn’t a fan of the signature mat a lot of people do. I highly recommend!
