About Me: I’m a six-foot-three bride with a fifty-foot personality! I love great art, fabulous design, intense color, tons of music, indie photography, watching movies on repeat, and being really awesome. This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
About Mrs. Scissors

Let’s Hear It for the Boys!

April 1st, 2010 @ 8:17 am by Mrs. Scissors

(This video in no way relates to the post, other than the fact that it says “boy.” And, well, is amazing.)

Bridal party gifts haven’t ever been a big question for us—we’ve known what we wanted to give our party members since the very beginning. Something that was important to us was that the gifts be fun, functional, and personalized.

I am under no impression that any of Mr. Scissors’ groomsmen read this stuff, but just for safety’s sake…

Everyone else may follow me after the jump.

OK, they’re gone. (As if they were here to begin with!)

If you recall, when it comes time to boogie at the reception, Mr. Scissors’ll be donning some custom Chucks.

We thought it would be fitting to have a pair of Chucks made as a gift for each of his groomsmen as well. Mr. Scissors will sneakily find out each one’s favorite color, and then we’ll use said color for the back-stripe and lining of the shoe. Also, I imagine one of us will make up a fake excuse to know their shoe size in order to… order them. Maybe a shoe-rental question? Whatevs, onto the goods!

These are pretend-favorite-colors, as I have no idea what their favorite colors are. Something that we have yet to decide on is what to put on each shoe wording-wise. Our wedding date? Nicknames? Wedding job? I lean towards something that is more them-related, i.e. a nickname, rather than our wedding date, just because, well, it’s a gift to them.

A second gift that we thought about getting the guys was a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers, because both Mr. Scissors and I love them so.

Unfortunately, at $195, I think these might be a bit out of our budget when combined with the Chucks. Oh, sad day. We can always throw in some wonderful Wayfarer-inspired sunglasses for fun!

Both of these gifts are fun, functional, and have the added bonus of probably looking super-cool in some wedding photos. Y’all know how I love me some shoe shots.

What are you getting the guys? How did you decide? Was it a surprisingly easy-peasy decision, or something you had to agonize over?

I really wanted to do the custom chucks at the beginning as well. But unfortunately just don’t have the dough to do custom chucks for all the boys. :(
Any coupons floating around for these bad boys? =)

I left this detail up to my FI… and he still has no idea what to get them. We were thinking about customized “pub signs,” but still not sure.

Kids Incorporated was one of my favs back in the day. That video=awesome haha.

Love the custom chucks. I would say definitely do nicknames and not something related to your wedding.

My FI FINALLY came up with an idea for his GM last night. He’s getting them all wallets with a gift card that relates to their interests (be it fishing, video games, or beer). I was starting to think there just wouldn’t be anything for them…

how much are custom chucks anyway? I wish we could do something like that, alas his friends are just not that cool and wouldn’t rock them - can you believe that? Although, my 2 1/2 year old nephew loves when I pick out his sneakers !!??!! and he is the ringbearer

Oh our guys would have loved those Chucks! Instead we got them screenprinted ties from RokGear on Etsy. Yep, they had skulls on them, but the skulls were down low so you could only see them at the reception. And we gave them little books with Chuck Norris, Mr. T, and MacGyver funny facts. One of the best men used the Chuck Norris facts in his toast. It was hilarious.

I love the Chucks, but don’t give up on adding the Ray-Bans if you still want to. You should be able to find Wayfarers for about half that price. I got a pair for my dad last Father’s Day and they were less than $100. Check Amazon!

Colorful chucks are so great! You can never go wrong with a pair of chucks.

Kids Inc = awesomeness! Fun fact: the little blonde girl with the red headband is Fergie. For real :)
