Spa-ing It Out

April 5th, 2010 @ 7:06 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Okay, let’s be honest – I’m pretty lame about coming up with post titles. Bear with me.

This past weekend I made an appointment at my favorite local spa (Ginger Bay). Mom got me hooked on this place a long time ago (probably a bad thing, for my wallet, but not for my mental health). Last year, Mr. A bought me a few treatments for my birthday, and with all the wedding planning, grad school, working full-time and moving keeping both of us busy, I completely forgot about them (whoops!).

So, somewhere in my search for something completely unrelated in my Gmail, I stumbled upon my gift certificates. With the good news, I made an appointment to have the Self-Renewal Facial Treatment done this past Saturday. Now, I’ve had plenty of facials in my past, but this one seriously takes the cake.

Not only was this a facial, but it was a mini-massage too. Can you say kudos to Mr. A for picking this one out? A typical facial may last about 45 minutes, but this one was a full 90 minutes. Arden, my esthetician, was awesome. I had a deep cleanse, clay mask, toning mist, plus some other stuff that I was too busy sleeping to pay attention too. BUT, just when I though it was over? WRONG.

My calves and feet were massaged, as were my arms, hands, shoulders and neck. Plus, she rubbed my head. ZOMG, did the stress and tension totes melt away.

So, moral of the story? If you’ve never taken the opportunity to get pampered, go at least once – and blame it on the wedding. Have a facial, or massage a few weeks before the big day to help relieve some stress or prep your skin. You seriously won’t regret it.

Are you splurging on spa treatments during your engagement? Has it helped clear up your skin or relieve your stress?

I could so use a spa day to relieve stress! Maybe I’ll hint to future hubby to suprise me with one…

I got a facial last week and it was heavenly. But then I read in Martha Stewart weddings that dermatologists don’t recommend facials. But I still really liked it. I got a mini-massage of shoulders, neck, and hands and it was so soothing I fell asleep twice

Oh God yeah. A full schedule of indian head massage, some good vigorous swedish type manipulation and a facial as well. Bags to the dermatologists! Dunno how I’m gonna solve the pedi problem, though… I kick like an ass (the four-legged ones) whenever anyone goes near my feet…

Yes, I have. My skin is wretched. I have pores you could throw a party inside, they are that large! I get a facial one month, and a chemical peel the next month. It’s helped a LOT! The chemical peels are more intense and effective but the facials are soooooooo relaxing. Plus my asthetician and I got engaged around the same time, so we talk wedding talk (and before that talked “OMG, wtf, when’s he gonna propose???” talk).

That sounds heavenly! I got some spa certificates as shower gifts and I can’t wait to use them :)

I would love to do something like this! Maybe as a treat after I take the Bar, but before the wedding? I hope so!

@labrat: You should definitely drop the hint!

@BrianneG: I love Martha, but I’m going to disagree with her on this one.

@ktbrady: Oh, that’s great! And, love that you made an awesome friend (and connection) out of it!

@jordynrose: That would be the perfect idea!

I’ve never had a spa outing, but your post made me really want to venture to one!
