Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. About Mrs. Hot Wings

Name Our Drinks

April 6th, 2010 @ 6:34 pm by Mrs. Hot Wings

Name Our Drinks : wedding alcohol san diego 1 IMG_2321

We are having 2 signature cocktails at our reception: a blue margarita and a Midori sour—blue and a green to match our Coastal Chic Theme (Yup, I changed the theme name again). Below is a mock set-up. I’ll put a sign (to be created) with some votives on white linens.

Name Our Drinks : wedding alcohol san diego 2 IMG_2322

Margarita

  • Tequila
  • Blue Curacao
  • Sour Mix

Midori Sour

  • Midori Liquor
  • Sour Mix
  • **A splash of vodka (optional)

I want some fun signature drink names. Because seriously, why the heck not? I’m a cheeseball like that. The best we have come up with so far has been “Marriage Margarita” and “Matrimonial Midori Sour”. Yeah… those names are not exactly fitting our cheeseball Hot Wing characters, now are they?

So hive, I need your help.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to name our Margarita and our Midori Sour drinks. The names must somehow reflect the drink that they are. I’d love to hear your creativity in the comments!

It’s tough because you want it to be catchy, cute, but still let the guests know what they’re drinking! What about Wedding Ring Ritas or Ring a Ding Ritas or Love is sweet & Midori Sour? Good luck!

the Margarita can be “something blue”

I can’t think of anything for the Margarita, though others seem to have done a pretty good job.

midori sour: Pucker Up!

I’m wondering what types of names would be unique to you and your fiance. Maybe an inside joke thing, or a psychology thing, or a favorite hang out place, favorite TV shoes, or something dorky and tongue in cheek that your closest friends will help other guests figure out. I love that kind of trivia and uniqueness embedded in wedding details.

On another note, I changed my mind on our theme a thousand times, much to the frustration of everyone involved. I hindsight, I realize it’s part of the process–the design process if your will. Go with it, don’t apologize :)

Not wedding-appropriate, but:
Tequila Mockingbird!
Ha. It’s cracking me up.

Côte d’Azur [Blue Coast] is the Mediterranean coast in the south of France that stretches from Marseilles to the Italian Border - would go with the Chic part of the theme.

Or you could go all beach theme and do Flotsam and Jetsam - might be kind of funny actually since they are names for types of wrecks.

I suck at making up names for this sort of thing but can I ask where you got the blue votives? I’ve been looking!

I have no ideas myself, but I must say I am in love with Hilary’s suggestion: Love is sweet & Midori sour.

@Hillary: @MissChirpie: @Miss Rosey:@Angel: Wow! These are really awesome suggestions! Thanks! They are serious contenders. I just told Mr. Hot Wings and he’s super impressed with the hive!
@Mrs. French Bulldog: lol! They’re my parents’. We’ll probably have plain rocks classes at the actual wedding… boring I know.

@hindsightbride: Wow… you’re so right. I hadn’t even considered psych names. Good suggestion. I’ll have to think about this one though. And thanks for the theme boost of confidence :)
@Jen: lol! You’re hilarious.
@DB: I actually got the buy votives second hand from a bride after her wedding. Sorry, I actually don’t know where she got them.

Just want to say I have those same glasses (thanks ebay)! They can also be seen in an episode of Mad Men, season 1. I’m obsessed with them. My terrible suggestions for your drink names: Margarita Simpson (blue hair, get it?) and the Midorable.

Or the (m)I-DO(ri) Sour. That’d be tough to figure out how to pronounce, though. Maybe just the I-Do! Sour.
