Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
About Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

I wanted to try to fit an Eminem song into one of my titles, so this was my attempt. But the real reason for this post is to talk about the entrance to the reception. See, as I’ve mentioned before, we both hate to be the center of attention. I’m a little more open to the idea, but Mr. Fro Yo is adamantly opposed. In fact, when I ask him if he’s nervous about getting married, he’ll say that the thing that worries him the most is that everyone will be looking at him during the ceremony. Aww.

So how the hell are two scaredy cats supposed to have an entrance into the reception?

A lot of couples come in like with the bouquet raised while holding hands:

Still others dance it in:

And some dance with their whole party:

And others come in all smiles:

But what will we do? Well, we’re hoping to just sneak into the cocktail hour and start mingling with guests. Surprise! Here we are without the announcement! Is that cowardly? Maybe, but we are planning on visiting with our guests during cocktail hour, so isn’t it weird if we leave and then come back again? Even if it’s not, it’s still the right decision to go sans introduction for us, so I feel good about it.

How are you handling the entrance into the reception? Will you be introduced?

We’re not doing an entrance either (mostly bc I don’t really like them, I’ve never seen it done in a non-cheesy way.) It’s cool, I know I’ll just be like, “Get me to the fooooood!!!!”

That is exactly what we are doing! There is no way I am going to miss the cocktail hour- I want to get to have a real convo with everyone and not just a hello at each table. We had no interest in doing an entrance, totally not our thing. My parents are going to do a toast to end the cocktail hour and signify the start of dinner!

We just walked into our cocktail party. I thought we could do it sneaky-like, but everyone started clapping. That was ok though, 10 seconds and it was over.

I totally think we’re going to do that too froyo. Since we’re taking photos beforehand, I don’t think we’ll need the extra hour during cocktails for more photos and we want to get in for some of the apps we ordered!

I think we’re just going to show up for cocktails as well. I figure we’ll be “announced” when we do our first dance.

I tried to get out of it, but it looks like we are doing one. :(

We probably are not going to do the introduction either. Like Miss TM, I have a hard time with them because they usually are pretty corny. Plus my FI is such a shy guy about that kind of stuff and I don’t want him to have a look of horror on his face when we made an entrance :)

We’ll be announced, but we’re not sure how we’re going to enter. Maybe just walk in as proud as can be without anything too cheeseball. Who knows, we might be moved to be cheeseball anyway!

i actually really love to be the center of attention, but because we’re not having a dj (we’re going to the cheap-o ipod route) i don’t think we’re going to be announced. i don’t really care though.. i’m all about the chill factor. the first dance we’ll be announcement enough.

We are showing up for cocktails and appetizers too! We want that food too! But then we will be doing an entrance as well. I like both the flowers and the all smiles! I think it depends on if you are using your flowers as decor.

I was the one holding up my bouquet, with a huge grin, as if I had just scored an Oscar… *blush*

One thing I know I might regret is missing my cocktail hour than having an announced grand entrance. So I’m with you on sneaking into cocktail hour~

We’ll be taking bridal party photos during cocktail hour, so sadly I’ll miss out on the grub. Still haven’t decided how to deal with the entrance yet. I would do the sneak-in too, if we could. Though I’m sure people will make a fuss no matter how you enter. :)

I think we’re going to be “introduced” but I shy away from calling it a “grand entrance” because we’re not doing it for everyone in the wedding party — it’d take a year. So, the DJ will most likely announce us, but I’ve vowed not to do the bouquet-shaking-arm-waving-in-the-air thing. ;)

Uh, I hadn’t really thought about it! I think since it’s such a small garden wedding we’ll just come around the corner and if people clap we’ll wave and smile, but just head to our table :)

Our wedding party came in through the doors kind of dancing, then we were announced and showed up on a balcony upstairs! I’m usually so shy, but we loved our grand entrance and so did our guests as they gave us a standing ovation. :)

We are doing the same thing! We are planning on missing part of the cocktail hour for pictures, and then we are just going to sneak in and start mingling with our guests!
