Mrs. Dolphin, Gainesville, FL Age and Occupation: 24, Graduate Architecture Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Interactive Interface Developer Engagement Date: February 14, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: Plantation Bay Country Club About Me: I’m currently a Graduate Student at the University of Florida studying Architecture. I enjoy playing Scrabble with my Fiance, rooting for the Florida Gators, making any drink that involves a blender, cleaning (yes... I’m crazy), design... GOOD design that is, the new Pepsi with natural sugar, taking pictures, discovering new places in the U.S., and obsessing over doing (and designing) everything myself for our upcoming wedding!
About Mrs. Dolphin

When I first started looking for wedding veils, I wanted a birdcage veil. I felt it was chic, modern, and sooo me. When I went dress shopping, my parents really leaned towards a more traditional veil. I put a few on but wasn’t really feeling it. A few bridal store visits later, and after many hours of looking at other couples’ wedding pictures, I became obsessed with having a chapel length veil. Who ever said your parents don’t know what’s best for you?

So, you might ask… how did I go from a 6″ veil to a 90″+ veil? What happened to me? Well these images below is what ’happened’ to me:

I could totally see a picture of us like this over our mantel… if we had a mantel, that is.

This is one of my favs from one my awesome bridesmaid’s weddings. Did you think veils just flow in the wind naturally??? Ahh… well, they don’t! I’m totally like 3 feet to the right of this picture, throwing her veil up in the air; hoping one day she will do the same for me. :) ♥ her!

Yes, I want to be the girl with the long veil. So often I go the minimalist route, while my fiance tries to push me into a more feminine direction. When we go shopping for me, I’m usually reaching for the gray v-neck shirt, while he is reaching for the ruffly bright-colored shirt (could be the architecture student in me). So, I feel it is about time I shed my ultra minimalist inhibitions and just roll with a more flow-y, funky, floral, romantic, feminine self.

And you know what? It feels really good to do so. :)

Are you a short, and sweet birdcage veil bride? Or a long, full of fantastic drama, veil bride?

I went from no veil to wanting the chapel length veil, to trying it on with my dress and realizing a finger tip veil was the way to go.

Both! I’m wearing my mom’s cathedral length veil for the ceremony and part of the pictures, then switching to a birdcage. I love the romantic flowy look and the sentimentality of my moms veil, but practically speaking, wearing it for 12 hours would make me batty! Hence switching to the chic little birdcage for the reception. I figure if others can be two dress brides, then why not be a two veil bride? :)

I have always been a veil gal. And now that I’m getting married, it’s all coming true. Just like Goldilocks1107, I went with a finger-tip veil!

I think something else that has always been on my heart was the blusher. That was what I always always always wanted! ;) Can you just imagine those sweet pictures of the details whilst getting ready, and the pictures of your future husband lifting the blusher to kiss you? :)

I have no idea! There’s so many options, and I’m lost. I’m guessing waltz? Not sure if I could do cathedral cuz i want to wear my veil throughout the reception, and having something too long will be cumbersome. For sure though I want a 2 Tier veil.

this is EXACTLY what i did. i bought a birdcage veil, but when i got it and put it on, i didn’t feel “bridey” so i was going to go the non-veiled route. but then i saw pictures just like the ones you posted and HAD TO HAVE a cathedral length veil. so now i have a 96″ veil and am the girliest person alive. haha - so excited!

I love the veil!!! I always knew I wanted cathedral or chapel length…I figure this is the only time in my life where I can wear something like this so I might as well do it big (or long). I’m now waiting for my chapel length, ivory, edged in lace veil to arrive!

these pictures are so beautiful! I have a longer veil but not cathedral. I tried on the birdcage too and it just wasn’t me

Those photos are so gorgeous! I think I’m going to go with either elbow length or fingertip - I like them kind of long, but I don’t want it all the way to the ground.

I was going to go with the standard and safe finger tip length but decided I wanted a long chapel length! And when I read that long veils create a slimming line effect, I was hooked.

I also followed the same path as you - birdcage to start but ending up with a cathedral veil!

I wasn’t going to wear one at all…then I figured, when NEXT will I ever wear a veil? Like……..

Right.

So I started looking at inspiration pictures and volia! I am a 90″ veil bride too! (Although I cheated and have a shorter [42"] one on top for after the ceremony! :))

ohhhhh i’m so glad for this post!

yes, yes, i do have a super dramatic veil.

i have TWO veils, in fact.

how did this happen?

well, there was a lot of commotion and excitement when i tried on my dress, and i was crying, and everyone else was crying, and the bridal consultant popped two veils on my head and somehow it just all… WORKED.

one is a very long cathedral veil and the other is fingertip length. both are worn at the same time, and back (not covering my face). both are very thin so it’s not like super duper crazy thick-veil looking.

am i crazy???

still no idea how my hairdresser/bridesmaid is going to fix my hair with two veils and a crystal headband to work in!

I’m wearing a cathedral length veil because the shape of my dress is very slim. I was taught that the poofier the dress, the shorter the veil (& vice versa!) :)

I am definitely going for the long romantic veil. I love bird cage veils on some people but know they are absolutely not for me.

I’m with Pumpkin Penguin . . . I bought the same veil in a cathedral length (for the ceremony) and in a fingertip length for the reception!

I’ve always loved the cathedral veils, but wanted a veil I wouldn’t trip over for the reception.

I’m loving the chapel veil too!! I really wanted a birdcage veil too, but that was back when not a lot of people wore them and they were still sort of a different look. They were unique and that’s one of the things I liked about them. But now that they’re super popular, I’m loving the look of the chapel length. It’s long enough to be elegant and flowy and romantic, but not super long like a cathedral length where it would be crazy to manage.
