Keeping The Inner Bridezilla Under Wraps : wedding emotional gainesville Bride 2 Bridezilla Moment Card

source Somee Cards

I work very hard to not become a Bridezilla… but I do have my moments. There have been times through the planning process (and through our two year engagement) where I have fully unleashed my inner Bridezilla and later realized that I was being a little unreasonable… okay maybe a lot unreasonable.

Case 1: Trying to convince Mr. Dolphin that $700 shoes for our wedding was something I absolutely needed.

Case 2: Arguing with Mr. Dolphin that we can’t just have a honeymoon registry, we still need to have a registry at a store. I think I won this one but when I look back I think… why did I care so much? Wouldn’t I rather have money for our honeymoon then place settings for 12? I barely have a table that can seat 4.

Case 3: Obsessing over a venue where the price per plate was so outrageous, we would have to cut out half of our family and no children could come, and I was actually considering this. It was on the beach, and absolutely fantastic! But… way out of control, price-wise.

Case 4: Saying my wedding instead of our wedding when talking to people; I’ve only done this a few times and each time I feel that voice over from the ’Bridezilla’ show calling me a briiiiiiiiiidezilla.

Okay maybe these aren’t all ’Bridezilla’ moments (I have seen A LOT worse on the actual Bridezilla TV show) but I still feel they are worthy of the 1/4 Bridezilla or 1/2 Bridezilla designation. We are in the final stretch of our wedding, almost a month out, and I’m sure I will have more to add to this list.

If you have had a Bridezilla moment, please share! Make this bride feel a little better that she isn’t the only one. :)

I honestly don’t think I’ve had a bridezilla moment yet in terms of insanity/anger… but I have broken down crying about the wedding to my FI one or maybe two times… and I’m pretty sure it was the first time he ever saw me cry! I am sooooo not emotional and it seriously freaked him out! haha.

I have had very minor internal only bridezilla moments…where I fuss and fume to myself in the silence of my own room about something - and then get over it. Most of the time I just pick my battles. You do the best you can :-)

I’ve had a few. Mostly over his family who is constantly driving me nuts. Lately (I know- it’s horrible, and I need to stop). I’ve been “half joking” over what song to play for the bridal party entrance. Some ideas I have run by are “Hate (I really don’t like you)” by Plain White T’s; “Hot Mess” by Cobra Starship, or “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse. They haven’t been one ounce of help through the entire process, and have basically just driven me nuts. My poor fiance, he’s so patient! At least I haven’t spilled my deep seated resentment to anyone else (except all of you now). Don’t think I’m a horrible person please, I promise I’m not!

(After reading Corgitales) I have had MANY break downs where I just cry and consider cancelling the wedding and eloping. Does that count as Bridezilla, or just a “normal” part of wedding planning ;-)

I had a major bridezilla moment when picking a venue. We originally planned to get married at the same place where my parents got married, which would have been really special to me. But when we toured the actual venue, we realized it had not been kept up AT ALL. It was trashy, falling apart, and not in the least bit attractive. The problem was, I didn’t care. I threw a fit when my fiance didn’t want to get married there and only realized a couple hours later how much of a bridezilla I was being! Especially considering the place really was horrid. After I calmed down, we continued our search and eventually found a venue that’s amazing!

You aren’t bridezilla. Whenever I think about that show, the episode that stands out in my mind is the one where the groom takes the bride out to this super nice restaurant for a fancy dinner. He is so excited to show her the really expensive wedding band he bought her. She opens it up to find a beautiful platinum wedding band, and rips the guy a new one for misinterpreting her request for a simple wedding band. Apparently “simple” to her meant covered in diamonds, and not a gorgeous platinum band. She got so upset that she threw the brand new wedding band her fiance had bought her into his glass of red wine and storms out of the restaurant bawling her eyes out. After seeing that episode, I couldn’t watch another. If I had been that guy, I would have saved myself the trouble of a divorce and left her right then.

I had a “bridezilla” moment trying to justify having a second shooter to FI. We were looking for ways to cut the cost of her package, and he wanted that to go. Luckily, he agreed that it would be a better idea to cut the engagement photos instead.

I think I’ve been bridezilla for the past 2 months towards my FI. We’re on the tail end of our wedding planning and we’ve finished booking our major vendors. Our wedding is on May 1st. It’s just the details for the ceremony and reception that are making me insane. Whenever he questions anything wedding related I give him major attitude. I tell him why can’t you just agree (i.e. seating cards, charts, dancefloor placement). Yesterday he was being grumpy for no reason and of course I was asking him why with an attitude. He finally said “you’ve been being crabby for the past few months can’t I just have one day?!” I finally had to take a step back and realize that he was right. “Don’t let the details become bigger than the purpose” is my daily affirmation.

I’m guillty of Case #4! I constantly do this and with other topics as well. My house, my car, my kids, etc. It’s bad and the FI hates it and gets super upset! =\

Ah… I just had one Sunday!

My mom telling me that I had enough dishes and didn’t need to have two sets on the registry. While trying to tell her I was giving the old stuff to my sister, using the churchill blue china for fine dining, and that the one set would be removed so we would just have the Mikasa trees…she wouldn’t listen. So I went off screaming that I wanted the damn dishes and I like dishes, ceramics, glasses, etc… Then I said “I love dishes and pens” (as the art side of me has a fettish for art stores and office supply stores.) and to leave it alone! I stormed off and apparently the pens part threw her off enough that she actually decided to listen to me.

Oh and I constantly catch myself using my instead of we too! Opps. I’ve been so good… but as it gets closer, you just get sick of all the hassle.

I LOVE those Some E-cards, btw.

I was in a rotten mood (no one was safe!) all day after hearing a groomsman and our ringbearer might not make it to the wedding. Argh.

My bridezilla moments are usually just bouts of crying over “too much to do/pay for too little time/money!”

Hahaha. I guess my moment was when I hand-addressed 4 save-the-date envelopes with 4 different styles of handwriting and asked the Mister to pick his favorite - his 4th choice was also my favorite so we went with that one. Ha!

That card is too funny! I’ve been good so far, no bridezilla moments over any details .. yet. Now my FMIL on the other hand, I may go bridezilla on her if she doesn’t start listening to us!

Ha ha! I actually did buy the $700 wedding shoes that I still can’t wrap my head around! I fell in love with them, and no other shoe would do. Which ones are you lusting after?
