Are you tired of my shoe saga yet? Yeah, I am too. This is the end, I promise.
As a reminder, I first fell for the wrong type of shoe and got over that by traipsing around with some other prospects. Then, I just fell. So now, I’m left looking for a shoe that doesn’t clash, makes me look like the woman I am, and reduces the fall-on-your-face hazard.
After resigning myself to the fact that I’d likely be a sensible-shoe bride for the ceremony, I decided to check out these babies:

They were cute enough. I guess.
And, these shoes have the Nike Air technology, which is supposed to be awesome. But I felt like I was trying too hard to give these shoes a fair chance - kinda like when you’re in high school and your mom is afraid you’ll never have a boyfriend so she sets you up with her friend’s son, with the justification of, “Hey look, he’s in marching band just like you are!” and you just want to disappear into the floor but you know he’s dreading it as much as you are, so you feel bad and you agree to meet him?
No? Well, I think you get what I mean.
Anyway, my potential meeting with Ceci was cut short when I discovered that the Cole Haan store I visited was the one branch in all of NYC that didn’t carry their bridal collection (it’s the Flatiron store, for you NYC brides). I took it as a sign that it wasn’t meant to be and moved on.
Verdict: Stood up by shoes.
Then I looked at these:
Two little problems - first, Zappos didn’t have my size. I ordered a half size smaller, and while I can jam my tootsies into these shoes, they’re a little squished. Second problem - the heel, at 4 inches isn’t exactly the comfort I was looking for. And they are a little wobbly. (Okay, I guess that’s 3 little problems.) Nonetheless, they are still lower and sturdier than my previous prospects. I have my name on 3 websites for notifications when my size is available.
Verdict: Good for a last resort.
Then I wore my red shoes to my bridal shower, and several of you left comments of approval. However, after 4 hours in those shoes left me hobbling around, I just knew I couldn’t wear them for 12+ hours on the wedding day. Sorry!
Then, I was up in midtown because, well, I like it there, and I decided to pop into the Cole Haan store there. So in the spirit of beating my weak analogy to death - you know when you reluctantly meet up with the marching band guy that your mom sets you up with in high school, and you’re dreading it and hoping that he at least plays a cool instrument like the saxophone and not a dorky one like the clarinet (which you *rock* at but you don’t think it’s cool for boys) and then you meet him and the band geek is actually not that bad? Well, meet my geeky shoes:
Cole Haan Ceci Air Rose Sandal
So. They don’t knock my socks off. They’re not my first choice in terms of aesthetics. But they are pretty enough and they are soooooooo comfortable. And after my red-shoe trial, I am all about that. So I’ll let these shoes take me to the wedding. And if my red shoes make a little cameo appearance in a picture or two, you won’t tell right? It will be our little secret.
Verdict: WIN!
Were you a band geek too? (This question is lame. Pengy, you can change it if you want. LOL)

Editor’s note: OhEmGee, Mrs. Penguin also played the clarinet in band in high school.
