I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. About Mrs. Hot Wings

Bed, Bath and Beyond Registry Win! : wedding registry san diego 1 IMG_2950

*testing out the bathroom rug we registered for*

Major props to the Bed, Bath & Beyond in Rockford, Illinois! What a great registry experience. Remember the not-so-fun one that resulted in the very generous, but not-very-Hot-Wings gift registry experience? Things have turned around, hive. We are registered and happy.

Mr. Hot Wings doesn’t look happy in that first picture, but I promise you this experience was very different.

Future Mama-in-Law Hottie called to see if we needed to make an appointment. They suggested coming before 12 when the crowds arrive. Nice pointer. The young lady who gave us the run down did it simply and quickly.

Bonus points: I asked about return policies, particularly about returning for cash. She told me that we could return for cash as well, but that they don’t like to advertise that. Oops, sorry BB&B. They told the wrong person. I’m a blabber. There you are, I told!

She asked if we wanted any information or demos. I said it would be nice to hear about kitchen goods, and out came Aaron. Hellooo awesomeness. We got our own personal run down of all the kitchen goods we were interested in (pots, pans, coffee makers, and knives). It was great. We didn’t have to go to any special events or anything!

Bed, Bath and Beyond Registry Win! : wedding registry san diego 2 IMG_2951

About an hour into our registering, 2 people came to check up on us and bring us water! It was so sweet and nice of them. We finished in 2 hours with just over 100 items. We didn’t get warned about how little we registered for. We didn’t get lectured on china that we said we didn’t want. It was wonderful. I highly recommend it.

Second Bonus: We’re very happy that our guests will be able to use the 20% off coupons they regularly send out and the prices and goods are more in line with things that Mr. Hot Wings and I would purchase for ourselves.

Bravo BB&B.

Let’s hear some shout-outs for stores that did you right and how they made you feel special!

I’ve heard fabulous results about registering at BB&B and am tempted to register there as well! I totally forgot about those 20% coupons they send out!!

We definitely had a good experience registering at BBB as well - plus they have the little booklet of freebies when you register for so much of a brand, like $500 of Caphalon gets you a free Caphalon Santoku knife! Yay for free stuff just for registering :)

@Violachap: OMG… I totally forgot to mention that! You’re right. They did give us that cool book of gifts for registering for certain brands.

We had a great experience registering at BBB! Our experience was a lot like yours. Everyone in the store was helpful and knowledgeable. It’s also great that returns are easy, guests can use the 20% off coupons and BBB offers complimentary gift wrapping. Love them!

I just hope for you that everything stays in stock. Half of the stuff we registered for at BB&B has been discontinued or is out of stock.. makes it hard! We are going to go back and re-register for a bunch of stuff so we still get the “post-wedding” discount on other things, should ours NEVER come back in stock. Glad you had a good experience!

We just registered on Saturday at BBB. We had an ok experience there. I had a good idea in mind what I wanted to register for upfront. I have already been living on my own for 5 years and enjoying cooking has given me a mental “when i register” wish list. When we got there were were assited by a woman and we started with what we wanted for “formal” dishes. I told her the line that I wanted and she pulled it out and then asked what my favorite color was. I said navy blue. She set up the place setting all nicely along with a blue placemat, a blue napkin in a silver napkin ring, and then a random red wine glass since I had mentioned that I needed that type. She then proceeds to ask what we thought of it. I thought that she mention what I thought of the dishes I had selected but NO when we were looking around the same aread afterwards I notice that she is scanning EVERYTHING in the setup. Ummm… excuse me but I don’t remember stating I needed placemats, napkins, napkin rings, or wineglasses I would be afraid to use in fear of breaking them due to the cost. I didn’t say anything and just scanned some lower cost glasses later on when she wasn’t looking and removed all of the excess items when we got home. Both my fiance and I felt stressed the entire time she was with us and she was until we only had the kitchen gadgets left. We made sure we went over the registry and removed items that we felt were not needed like both having bath towels and bath sheets. I do agree that those 20% coupons are nice and tried to stay away from the brands in the fine print.

@Ella1978: Oo good point. I’ll have to keep a watch on our registry then.

@Joeswaffle: I hope BB&B folks are listening. Leave us couples alone to register. We’ll call you when we need you. Sorry your experience wasn’t the best.

We just registered yesterday there and I have nothing but positive things to say. We actually had the associate walk us through the entire store (by choice) and we put together a very comprehensive list!

I think we will register at only one other place because we really like everything from BB&B so much.

BBB does an awesome job with registeries - they are so accomodating! My fiance is military and we will be moving immediately after our honeymoon, but since we don’t know our new address yet, they are willing to use our (current) local store as a “ship to” address and will later ship everything to our home once we know our address. They were the ONLY store that would do this for us and we are so grateful! They get extra points in my book for having excellent service!

Glad to here your registry went so well. We are not registering there because I used to work at BB&B in high school and it brings back super BAD MEMORIES!

We’ll be heading there soon to register. I have purchased almost all of the wedding gifts for friends from BB&B because of the coupons which allows me to get them more for the amount I plan on spending.

BBB was my favorite place to register! At first the guy was going on and on about luggage and crystal (neither of which we really need/want), but once he handed over the scanner he just checked in with us every so often and answered any questions we had. We were there when his shift ended, but he even tracked us down to let us know and introduce us to the person who would be taking over. Unfortunately, I think it’s the one our guests are least likely to shop at (most are 30-60 minutes away from the nearest BBB), so we also have Kohls (another good experience) and Walmart (eh…but a lot of it was our particular store’s fault).

Miss Hot Wings: You can check online - all of the stuff that becomes discontinued or out of stock falls to the bottom of the page.. I’m not positive that those things will even print out if you print it at the store. It’s been frustrating for us because some of our HUGE things were discontinued - plates, serverware, duvet cover… big things.. and then you get people saying “you don’t have much on your registry…” ggrrr. I hope you all have 1000 times better luck than we did!!!

BB&B was definitely an awesome registry experience! They have a great balance of being willing to help you/give you as much info as you need but leave you alone if you want it. Right when my FI’s eyes were starting to glaze over, someone popped over with some sodas for us - nice touch! The woman who was helping us told us to pick one each of our towels, wash cloths and hand towels and tell her how many we wanted of each color and she would build all that in - so helpful! The return policy is awesome - not only will they refund cash, even BETTER - they will return without a receipt if you have your registry! And, they will even take back used items, i.e. the towels that did horribly in the first load of wash. Can’t way enough good things about BB&B! Oh, and if one of your friends registered there, be sure you tell them you heard about the registry through your friend - they’ll get a $25 gift card - sweet!

I’m right there with you! We had a great, low pressure, pleasant experience when we registered at BB&B! We’ve had a couple items be discontinued, but I’m a horrific registry stalker, so I always catch it and replace it. And my mother is apparently a bit of a registry stalker as well because every time she notices something on clearance on our registry, she buys it and send it to us–she says because BB&B puts things on clearance right before they go away. Oh well, not complaining!

Also, BB&B was really great when we got a couple of gifts with no card! We had NO idea who they were from, and I was panicking about writing thank yous…I emailed them (because it was not regular business hours) got an immediate response asking for my registry number and the UPC numbers of the items, and next thing I knew, they told me who had purchased each item. It was great!
