Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!

A Wedding-O-Wings

There are so many ways to have a Hot Wings wedding. You can have some hot “wings”.

Or you can have it the “Hot Wings! CMT Biggest Redneck Weddings” way.

You can see the whole shindig on CMT’s website here.

These are two very different way to “Hot Wing” your wedding. But they’re both Hot-Winging it out to the max! Seriously, though. You all might be grossed out by that tub-o-wings. But it looks damn delicious to me. After all, that’s why they call me Miss Hot Wings! *wink*

Let’s hear about some themes that don’t often get talked about on wedding blogs.

Ready – Set – Go!

Oh my, I’m a fan of wings but those tubs of them just made me a little nauseous. And those are quite the fairy wings on the bride!

that’s a lot of wings! and i love fairy wings, so fun! but I imagine mr. sew would kill me if i tried to pull that off at our wedding. i don’t think there’s much in the way of sewing machine themes, sadly. lol.

I’m with Nachos…that tub was a little bit of an overload. I could probably handle a bucket of wings, but I think that is my max. :)

The wings are… creative! Haha! For us, we’re going with a tandem bicycle theme. Not as unique maybe, but I must say, it’s a bit hard to find details (like a cake topper) to fit this theme.

You are hilarious. I friggin love you. And I suggest you dress up as a hooters girl for your bachelorette party, should you have one. it would be SO DAMN FITTING! In fact, you should have ALL your girls rock that out. I actually own a Hooters uniform. Never worked there. Just have one. (don’t ask).

I *almost* had my flower girl wear some fairy wings. But I’m getting married in a church and it seemed more appropriate for an outdoor ceremony.

I think if I got married at thirteen, I would have chosen that dress. Don’t be creeped out, there were no marriage offers at thirteen.

@Miss Sewing: If you had a vintagey wedding, I could see an old style sewing machine on your guestbook table as decor. haha.
@jenni.frances: That’s super cute! You might have to have it custom made or DIY. Totally cute!
@JoJoThatsMe: I tried to have her wear them too! Mr. HW was not into it.
@LittleAudrey: too funny!
@Miss Hamster: Indeed! I concur. haha.
@tea: blue cheese, you know how to do it right!
@mander411: I pretty want it everyday since becoming Miss HW. It’s dangerous stuff.

I’m actually DIYing my own set of wedding wings, not for church of course, but for pictures and the reception. The flower girl’s wings are just about done and the bridesmaid wings are all framed out.

Call me unique, but I love the idea. We’re sold this idea that weddings should be fairy tale and storybook, so why not live it up.

I fully support actualizing your vision for the day, whatever that is.

And that first dress is beautiful.

Our theme is kind of silly; it’s just “fun!” We’re planning a bright color palette, games on all the tables, and a rockband station. The reception is going to be a relaxing, fun party for everyone!
