About Mrs. Hot Dog

Dressing the Man-Folk

April 13th, 2010 @ 12:05 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

Mr. Hot Dog is a very casual guy. I mean very. Jeans and t-shirt are what fills his closet, hiding a few hardly-worn button downs and 2 pairs of slacks. Knowing this, there was no way I would ask my hunny to wear a full-on tuxedo on our big day. Not to mention, it wouldn’t really go with the feel or aesthetic. And he’s a huge dude! 230 pounds-huge! So even finding a tux or suit to rent would be a huge chore!

This was also the only thing that he had a real opinion on. He wanted to choose his attire. But, knowing him and taking all these factors into consideration, I think I have a pretty good idea of what he’ll choose.

I showed Mr. HD this photo and he thought it was great, minus the flip flops. He has this weird thing about feet… so he’d probably swap them for some brown boots.

I LOVE the look of khaki suits. They’re just the right blend of casual and sophistication. And I like that the groom’s suit is a slightly different shade to make him stand out more. H. Dizzle wasn’t quite as fond of this one. Like I said, he’s UBER cas’.

Anywhatsit, we haven’t fully come to a decision on this yet, but I’m guessing he’ll choose a look that mirrors the first image. And I’m happy with whatever he chooses. As long as he’s there waiting for me at the end of that aisle, he could be wearing a sumo suit (love this, N!).

What is your guy wearing down the aisle? Did he want to choose his outfit in its entirety?

Love the casual vibe! Have you considered a light suit, possibly linen, with no tie. That would look put together for the ceremony and he could lose the jacket for the reception.

I was shocked when the FI told me HE wanted to decide what he’s wearing! I figured he’s just wear what I told him to - harumph! He even picked out the boys’ outfits (11 - 16 years) who are our sons and groomsmen.

Oh, and the boys are wearing something similar to your first picture but with short sleeved shirts and my groom to be is, I think, wearing a tan suit.

i like the khaki look. i’m not sure what my guy wants to wear but he said he was going to start looking for stuff. it’ll most likely will be a suit since we’re going for a semi-formal kind of feel

@Breanna: I think he’s considering that, but he thinks they’re too “stuffy”. His shoulders are about 2 of me across, so he has a hard time finding things that fit…

@Miss Trail Mix: Ditto!!

I love the look of pic one! Fi was going to do that look but he got to thinking he’d look sloppy next to me in my gown… so they went with simple, two button black suits with a striped tie. Vest for him, no vest for the dudes. :)

I love the khaki suit. My Mr is going to wear a brown tux that I totally picked out for him ;-).

Knowing my wife is very much into fashion, and she dressed me half the time we went out for a special occasion before we got married anyway, I was confident that she would pick the perfect ensemble, AND she did. I was comfortable, and I had the look she wanted. If you want something he doesn’t, I would suggest letting him make a couple decisions that takes his mind off the outfit - usually special type of beer or food will do the trick! :)

I really love those khaki suits. FI is wearing a charcol grey pinstripe suit.

I love the second picture with the khaki suits! Because we’re going with a pretty casual vibe, my guy is wearing a khaki suit as well, paired with a tie that we picked out together. I think this look is awesome for a summer wedding!

I’m having this same problem. My FI looks best without his shirt tucked in. If we go the suit route, we definitely need to work with a place to try on some more fitted shirts under the suit that can be untucked.

My husband wore a khaki suit just like the pic you have, with no tie. After the ceremony he took the jacket off, for a more casual look. He wore brown dress shoes & it looked perfect. I let him make the decision, because it’s was his day too! :)
