I’m incredibly busy today (that’s what happens when you’re in grad school… your recreational life stops!), but I just wanted to give you all an update on my veil situation. On Tuesday I went and met with Jacquelyn of Jacquelyn Brooks Design. I was there to see my veil she has been making, and to drop of the Alencon lace I had tea dyed.
She has a cute little studio right on University Ave (above Ben and Jerry’s) in Gainesville.
I tried my veil on and we did a few alterations to the shape and Jacquelyn pinned the lace I brought to the bottom of the veil.

We pinned a piece of lace to cover the comb at the top, but then decided against it. Later, I realized it really doesn’t go with my dress or the theme of our wedding to have the lace over the comb (it gives the veil a very Spanish look).
I’m overall pretty pleased with how my veil is shaping up. It is in my budget and it is very close in looks to the $630 Lori London Veil I liked so much. I can’t wait to see how it looks with my dress (which comes in this September!).
Here’s the breakdown on cost:
Total $23 + JB labor cost
Are you having anything custom made for you, like a bolero, veil, etc. to wear on your wedding day? Please tell!
