Wedding Countdowns: Don’t Remind Me

I have a little confession: every time I see a post on the boards about wedding to-do lists or countdowns, I feel physically ill. My heart starts racing, I feel woozy and light-headed, and I look for a happier, less stressful post. I am in denial about our wedding date, people.

I have to-do lists scattered throughout my email inbox. Do I look at them anymore? No. I can’t handle the reality of this impending date, where so many different variables have to come together—very expensive variables, I might add.

I’m not in freak-out territory yet.

My wedding shower is this weekend and I’ve told myself to get down to brass tacks afterward. I’m not even doing DIY on the magnitude of so many other bees! I’m simply overwhelmed by the sheer amount of details and the giant deadline.

How do you deal with wedding lists and countdowns? Are you in denial like I am or are you totally organized and prepared? And if you are, tell me how you do it!

I think I’m ahead of the game. We got engaged almost exactly 10 months before our wedding and right away we went to work booking vendors and making decisions. Best decision ever!!! For those issues that arise or sudden changes that need to be addressed ASAP, there’s extra time for that. I didn’t want to cram at the end and I have a ton of DIY to do (half done) and we’re still almost 7 months out. Sometimes I go through the to-do list and get a little anxious, but crossing things off, even one or two is a relief!!!! It will all fall into place, you’ll see 😉

I felt the same way about a week ago. Our wedding is almost less than one month away, and we had put off A LOT. The money thing is scary, but all the small details are freaking me out!
We finally hired a wedding planner. I suggest hiring someone, or finding a close friend who loves weddings (not hard to do) who will sit down with you and help divide your to-do list. Most people are happy to help, and this way you can talk out what to do instead of being silently overwhelmed. I totally understand! You can do it, and the little details do matter.
    Good luck :)

i felt the same exact way when i saw people posting countdowns! i would kinda freeze and just be overtaken by nerves for a minute. so i started avoiding them. the nerves will be there no matter what because this is a really big event that you’re throwing, but yes keep reminding yourself that it will all get done! and if they don’t, that’s fine too!

I have two weeks and four days to go and I don’t know where to start. I’m not sure if that’s because I’M DONE EVERYTHING or THERE’S TOO MUCH TO DO!? IG;WKEJrthaw;eothaer;ktjhdfbjkln4wet5u34059udfkljgn

Oh yeah, totally the same way. I just passed the 100 days mark, and I’m flipping out. I avoid the posts on the boards where people with similar dates talk about what they’re doing this month because all I can think is “OMG what if everyone’s ahead of me??” I just worry about going at my own pace, and looking at how much we’ve accomplished, and I feel better :)

I was so there before my wedding! Thank Goodness for my sister and mother because I would not have gotten everything done without them :)

I am kinda in denial about it, we’re about a month and a week away from the wedding, and I know between now and then, a billion and one things are going to happen and I am not sure where that motivation or time is going to come from quite yet. Right now I just want more people to RSVP to the wedding. I also need to write my TY notes for my showers!

102 days today (I just checked my wedding countdown app) and I’m starting to get nervous. Really nervous!

I’m with Mattel. A month following our engagement, we booked our ceremony location, reception site, florist, and cake bakery right off the bat. I am struggling with BM dresses, but not fretting yet. My wedding date is further out so my cool stand point might change as the date approaches. lol

OMGGG my sentiments exactly! I hate those things and especially the sites with the pop-up “XXX days til your wedding!” Gah, they stress me out!

I’m not quite to the physically ill phase but totally know what you mean about the heart racing. Those checklists really get me going!
