Things I Love: Our Photobooth

April 14th, 2010 @ 6:18 pm by Mrs. Argyle

So, remember back when I was trying to figure out what our “favor” could be? Well, the original thought was to incorporate some sort of eco-friendly element into it, but it just seemed contradictory to give away a favor and have it be “green”.

And, all of you wonderful readers shared with me your thoughts on what we could do. So, first and foremost we fully plan on purchasing carbon offsets to make up for the ecological impact our wedding will have. Several past bees have gone this route, helping to invest in renewable energy, reforestation and energy efficiency.

In conjunction with our carbon offset purchasing, we went on the hunt for something fun for our guests. The obvious choice? A photobooth, of course.

Mr. A just wanted a photobooth, so I did the work of finding a company we liked. There are quite a few photobooth companies in St. Louis, all of which I have heard do a great job, but I quickly fell in love with the work (and the actual booth – it’s a great sleek and modern one) from CI Photobooth.

The owners are fantastic, but they also offer a several options to make your event fun. You can pick from their backdrop collection, have them supply fun props for your guests, and they’ll even use a custom logo/design for your prints. Plus you’ll get a DVD of all the photos from the event – which I puffy heart. And, that’s not even all of it!

Did you book a photobooth for your wedding or are you creating a “fauxtobooth?”

Really cool! Even though I’ve read about it several times before, I’ve never been to a wedding with a photobooth before!

I had thought a photobooth or even a faux would be out of our budget, but just recently found a photographer willing to do 12 hours shooting at the wedding, for a really reasonable rate! So I think we’ll be arranging a screen and some props, and let him find out how (not) shy our guests are!

Just goes to show, you really do have to shop around…

Love it, and of course, I’m fauxtoboothing it all the way. I don’t think there is even a place to rent one of these where I’m from!

@Ms. Library: @Ms. Library:
How are you creating yours? I’ve seen a few how-to’s but they look a little complicated…

@Mrs. French Bulldog: I’m very excited about the DVD! I have a fun idea to use some of the pictures after the wedding - I just have to figure out if i can make it work!

@Miss Hamster: Come to St. Louis in September, haha!

@aunt pol: More and more photogs are offering that service. Ours does, but we wanted to free her up to shoot the wedding. But, I love the idea of a free-standing photobooth as well!

@Lalalovesit: You basically just need a backdrop and a camera. Mac’s have a camera and program called “Photobooth” you could use. Or you could hire a photographer student to man a camera at the reception.

We’re getting a photobooth also. I tried to figure out the logistics of a Fauxto booth, but really wanted guests to be able to leave with a treat!

Also, our vendor provides the makings for the guests to put some pictures into a scrap book for us! How adorable :)

I want one really badly. I am planning on working it into the budget somehow. It will be my one splurge.
